@SRB: Good question: It came from a Chinese seller on Ebay but beyond that I do not remember. I will be fitting to my Gmade Sawback so we will see it again. :)
What a survivor....Love it!!
Thanks Thommo..agreed. I'm thrilled to be able to save and restore an Astute particularly since it's never been re-released. My first one will remain a shelf queen and I think I'm going to use this one for light running.
Toyota hilux 'the blue lux'
Great work...love it!!
Thunder tiger 'tiger'
Wow, great information, thanks! I'm going to check out your showroom for both!
Love these trucks. I considered getting one to race at my local track before deciding on running a Traxxas Slash.
#1 astute fabulous mint condition
Great find! Hopefully destined to stay shrink-wrapped. Cheers!
Michelin pilot escort cosworth
Great looking livery! Nice work
Nice score! Same story here. I didn't really pay much attention to these as a kid in the 80's but a few years ago really grew fond of them to the point where I picked up an original within the last year that needs a light resto before I can run it. I also picked up a re-re body set and decals for it.
Scx10 ii jeep cherokee, ax90046, creepy crawly
Nice scale rig!
Who can argue with a Charger body on a monster truck? Nice work!!
Hurricane kit no. 2271 kyosho 京商
Great score! I've been a huge fan and avid collector of vintage fast electric boats and this one is awesome. I was happily running an MRP Fast Cat in the'80's but the Hurricane seems to strike a nice balance between the cheapness of the MRP plastics and the complex plastic/balsa wood assembly of the vintage Graupner boats.
Venture face lift
Nice work, very scale. Love it!
Great shots of a classic!! Brings back fond memories.
I like the different concept and execution. Seeing as it's basically your prototype. I'm sure you can refine it as you go. Nice work!
Great save... Nice work!

@STEVIE 774: Thanks for the comment. This WO came pink but I plan on changing that but haven't decided what color to go with yet. There are some great examples on TC for inspiration though. Yeah, I'm not sure if only the metal gearbox that some of the early ones came with was problematic or the plastic version like this one was as well. I have not rebuilt this gear box since I got it and have run it hard with no problems so far though. Either way, the old gearboxes would certainly be frustrating for a kid and I can remember fixing a few Frogs for friends in the 80's for the same reason. Easy fix now, as you said.
