TA02 4x4 update (Sold 4/10/12)
The TA02 chassis that I've got a few months ago is been gathering dust waiting for me to find the correct body for it. Well, I got a nice Bronco one. Sadly, it is damaged, so I will have to buy another one later on this year. But anyway, this is my first lexan body so I take it as some sort of Guinea Pig.
Tonight I cut the body and now I am scratching my head as to how can I mount it over this chassis. I have some Velcro here that I would like to use because I don't know hot to make holes on this thing correctly.
Anyway, once I get to mount the body I will be able to paint it. It will be competition orange with the classic white top. I love the way the TA02 runs so I expect the car to be lots of fun when ready. And hopefully it will look good too.
Any comments and ideas will be appreciated. I don't know how to put all the detail on the body as I don't have the instructions. I wonder if anybody of you can help me with this.
BTW, I believe Tamiya should have made this classic Bronco body on ABS LONG AGO as it is one of the most characteristic and classic American 4x4 vehicles in the history of 4WD & Off-Road.

Erich - try and get some 'rare earth magnets' - they're about the size of a shirt button and strong as anything.
The other option is industrial velcro stlye fabric - it has interlocking mushroom shaped mouldings instead of hook and loop

Never heard about the industrial Velcro you mention, not sure if it is available in here. I'm surprised to hear about magnets. Have you used it before? Thanks again!

An easy way to mount your Bronco is by using the ABC stealth body mounts. This is a clever system that allows you to mount/remove the body with ease. And you don't have to make holes in your body.

Yes, REM are great - youmight have to make some little adaptor plates to extend the chassis out to the shell, but it's a lot easier than messing about with body posts.
The velcro stuff probably won't be called velcro, I'll try and find out who makes it, but it's good tackle - you can easily lift a Hi Lift by the shell!

since you said this is your first lexan, and you were going to paint it after mounting the body, i am hoping that you know it gets painted on the inside. There is also a layer of film on the outside that you peel off after painting. I am sure you have already figured this out and seems like common knowledge, but it surprising how many dont know this. great projcect.

Erich, I will scan my manual and send them to you. I didn't think the Bronco would fit the TA chassis. Looking like a fine project. Let me know what your using on the inside to support the body as I'm lost making mounts for my Range Rover on a TA chassis.

I wonder if some combination of M series body mounts would work for you? As far as paint, Situation #1 with that blacked out grill would be fantastic! Can't wait to see it done!

I haven't had the time to work in this one lately, Paul. I now have some ideas as to how to mount the body on the TA02 chassis, but the main problem is how to find a way to prevent the body to break in some eventual rollover.
But, I do believe it will look (and perform) pretty good.
