After building my somewhat rare NIB CR-V kit I am now having a blast running it (carefully). I have a new hands down favorite Tamiya RC model, The Honda CR-V partly because I drive a real one but more because it looks right to me, like a diecast model I can drive around and play with. no big tires, no tacky decals (they do come in the kit though lol), no winch bumpers, no bling, no chrome. (I build those too of course) this is the kind of modest car I drive in real life so it goes to figure this is now my favorite or close to it Tamiya models. I overlooked this kit back in the day but after hunting this rare kit down paying more than I should and then building it and now putting it into service I am glad I went to the expense to find a new one to build and enjoy. I added a, 55t Can motor, Tamiya ESC, full bearings, alloy servo mount, alloy steering kit, rc4wd 1.55 wheels with 1.55 dirt grabber tires, and did some subtle body work, I need to add a few small details yet.

Great looking !! Wheels are really nice . Funny thing : You should buy rails for the 1:1 to get IT to look like 1:10 !! LOL

Looks really good, excellent find on the wheels, they look just right. Now we just need to see a little model Wyoming in the drivers seat. Perhaps you could get BeetleLover on the case?

Before marriage and children I did the same with my BMW M3, but it was no way as close to the original as yours is. Nice work... no little Seth inside yet..?

Well looks like you need to put roof racks on your 1:1! Great model and it's begging for you to put a video sequence together cutting between them both Good project for you and Jesse!

i totally agree, the crv is super scale, and its always fun to have a replica of your daily driver.

That looks great! Really nice and simple. Almost perfect match for your car. What you need to do now is cut out the driver window, and build an interior with YOU in it!

Thanks guys, I have been planning to find a Factory Honda roof rack I just have to start going around to salvage yards to get one for the 1:1 an interior is possible in future but like so many of my other trucks getting around to actually building one is a slow process for me.

Looks good and great work Seth, love that bleu. I was planning to paint my CRV in another color but i dont no with one, it still has the green from the beginning! the only missing thing is that all the stock XC cars has some tinted windows! Tamiya woudt go a big step forwards to prodused all clear windows on all the XC models, i think a lot of TCmembers woudt prefered that and all the other builders all around the world.
Those 1.55 rims and tires look so good on that Honda and that bleu, is that olso a kralon paint what you used on some of your other trucks too! like to see you also sitting behind the steering wheel on your little CRV, thats real scale lol! Thats why i like my honda too.

Thanks, I actually quite like the tinted windows because I hate making interiors for my trucks and rarely ever get around to it lol! But I would like to see some optional clear windows and simple interior kits offered on future trucks they might make

Very cool Seth...your 1/10 looks just like the real deal!

You lucky guy Seth. I would love to have that set up as I have been a fan of the Mk1 CRV since they came out and the Blue is my favorite color of them all,not the 'electric blue' they came out with later. If that were my 1:1, it would have the tinted windows as you don't last long around Texas without tinted windows. I think there is the ariel wire missing from the scaler, but not much else. I have to admit I was never a big fan for the hard plastic spare tire cover, I like the flap in the wind vinyl cover instead, perhaps you can work on that too. If I come across that roof rack, I will give you a call.

Nice job Seth! ..curious as to why the rear interior light is on (pics 1 & 4) though, had you just shut the tailgate?

Wyoming

17-Jul-2010

Thanks guys, the light is on because the top is just set down not latched lol! As for the real one Chris I do love it, it is a 1997 and has 89k miles and is like new inside and out having belonged to a family friend who passed away last year. The climate around here is fairly cool even in summer so tinted windows are not necessary and are actually illegal if more than slightly dark on front, driver, or passenger windows. The back can be tinted but I don't like them because I drive off road and need to see trees and rocks. I plan to put a real spare tire on the model soon like my real one has, My 1:1 never had that ugly plastic tire cover because its a base 4wd model and is just a matching wheel and tire on back of tailgate with no cover.

18-Jul-2010

Well, then we have more to look forward to on this model. I can't wait, maybe the Honda option front bull bar and driving lights next??? Ebay should turn those up. I love base models as they have the simpler wheels that look best IMHO and I would prefer 2wd, but honestly, wouldn't mind the 4wd, just would be wasted around my house...unless I started muddin, but then I would have to clean it all the time. Keep up the great work.

Wyoming

18-Jul-2010

lol yes I'll do more to it, I want to add little reflectors to bumpers like the 1:1 and the intrior is possible too. I don't think they sold the 2wd version in this region unless someone special ordered one because of the winters being very bad but I had heard they exist I agree about base models, I always like to get my cars/trucks as stripped down as possible, buying only what I really need in this case I just needed a fuel efficient fun to drive and reliable 4wd vehicle for the bad winter roads and to go down the rough rural roads without much fuss and riding smoother than my Old 69 FJ-40 or my Dodge 2500 which both rode terrible on rough roads causing back problems and teeth rattled lol!
