Well used.... and why not
Just arrived today and a bit of a rush to open the box and take pics this evening so not the best quality. Mind you neither is the car Lol. Having said that mechanically it is sound just the body is,,,, well,,,,looking a little sorry for its self. I don't know should I restore or go for the rat look?
Nice home made hub caps.

Pretty beaten up but nice find! Congrats!

Wow - what a jewel. This one can sure tell some stories, congrats. Given the broken and missing parts, I'd probably go for the distressed look, I'm sure Seth would approve. Just thoroughly go through the drive train so you know what you have. Sounds like fun.

I'd say keep it as is.Looks so right in my opinion.

Lets say definately a bruiser!!!! rat look, or give this to mike, he'll have it finished by the morning, on current form..
jeffy
Hahaha. Mike can float I might send him some serpents to do though....

If it were me and the truck being what it is 'PLEASE RESTORE IT' lol what ever you do I'm sure it will look good.
jeffy
If you look closely in pic 2 it has a spiders web in the cab. It also came with the resident spider. Thank god it didn't come from Australia and it was a friendly neighbourhood English one.

@ 3spd thats what I like about finding these beaten up and well used cars. The stories they could tell..... The mud that was way to deep my owner sent me into. That ridiculous jump they made me do. etc etc
SCORCHER KID
superb wayne..wot a corker ! if you decide to restore it ,i hope your on good terms with you bank manager...good luck
Fernado Alonso
Wow that is in good used shape
I like it that way
Connor
Mint the chassis up, keep the original shell the way it is & spray a minter paint job (candy apple red, lol) up on your new hilux shell
Tizer
Make it weathered. Not shiny new, not ratlook but just well used. Lots of mud, maybe a few scratches or rustpits but not too much
jeffy
Simon if I restore it the cast parts are coming your way mate. Connor I believe Bulle did the paint on this
brendogs

lol if you send that me to restore i def wouldnt send it back hahaha.got a nice freshly restored f350 to swap you for it lol.great find wayne and the rat look option would be great with lots of rust weathering on the metal chassis.

I think that's great ! If you decide not to sell it to me and want to keep the rat look I have a spare front grill and window glass in a condition that will suit it a treat
pininy

Great find and you brought a kind of a freind with you?? That spider wasnt not the bad one and hey foundt a nice place next to the driver lol! Lyve it that way, how a old vintage must look like!
jeffy
Thanks you all for the comments. Mike now no pestering for it lol. Roger grill and glass hey Mmmmm. Me thinks I'll be in touch. Now Mark aka slimmy what do you think?

Well.... mate. It is ruff. I would drop kick the body into a trash recepticle. Restore the chassis, Paint up your new body set or find a new one off the bay. I see there are several body sets being parted out on the bay right now and they look like there not commanding a lot. I got your bumpers all boxed up and ready to ship I just havnt gotten to the post office yet. I would love to see your work on this little buddy. Git-R-Dun!
slimmy
I guess pininy's truck got mixed up with yours in the mail. Tell him you want yours back!

oh crap! I just remembered about the email. sorry wayne, i get a little wacky sometimes. anyway, great find, and here is my suggestions: these are superfun to drive and this would make an awesome runer, just needs a little love. i love the stance on these, super scale and they really are the perfect size for a great off roader. looks like its missing the grill, which is pretty easy to find and the rest of the front fenders can be rebuilt with some styrene and epoxy with minimal time and effort. i would go for a rough paint job or none at all, just remove the stickers and scuff it up some more so you wont be afraid to drive it.
stickerbod
I think it mast of been parked too close to the sticker factory when it exploded Looks very rustic!
delux
Rat it!!!
jeffy
Seems 50/50 restore/rat. So I shall do a nice body to go on it and do the rough work with this body. Thanks guys.
Volksrod
Looks like an original desert racer thats been parked up in a barn since the early 80's! Id leave it as-is, just do a few details on it like the window rubbers etc and call it finished. Maybe a weathered grill too. You couldnt get that original 'look' however hard you tried.
slimmy
Its workable wayne. You can work this body over. I know you can. just order a few body pieces off the bay. The bumpers are covered! Keep us posted on the resto, mate. Slimmy

hello wayne ,no problem with the blasting, just hope the owd girl can stand up to 80psi..!!.......speak soon

This is so cool! I agree with Christian, I would also leave it like it is, remove the decals and drive! Congrats to this great find, Bro!

Restore it just do it the easy way like i did and buy a really nice painted and decalled body from ebay ,the rear bumper on mine was a cheap ebay item it was bent and dented but i got it quite straight with a bit of panel beating skill .
c_a_r_t_e_r
I would definitely leave the body as it is! Those are retro genuine manufacturer's logos on there - a snapshot in time from the '80s. Tear off the peeling ones, paint the window rubbers black, add some clear windows (drivers side wound half down) and you're good to go!
jeffy
Wow after 6 days still getting input. Many thanks Guys. The car is now completely stripped down to its component parts ready for cleaning. As for body for now this shall be left with just a little work. As I said I have a new body so can swap and change as the mood takes me
