Purchased from CTY300 Trashy Kit !
I purchased this from CTY300 the other day I will put the ebay listing on here as well so you can cross refference the pictures .
I only purchased this kit because it was Mint as seen in the ebay pictures I even emailed the seller and asked to make sure he packed the kit good as it would be ashame for a kit in perfect condition to get damaged he didnt reply I paid over US$400.00 for the privilege to own this kit .
It arrived today in this condition it was water logged ruined totally as a NIB I collect NIB kits as some of you know I knew as soon as I got this kit it was time to get the camera out.
While I was still pulling my hair out over the destroyed kit my wife pointed out that it was not the same kit as pictured on the ebay listing and she was right it has tape on the side with black marker pen ,sticky tape on the box lid ,its yellowed,old price stickers on the side.
Its definatly not the same kit I emailed the seller he asked for pictures I sent them heard nothing,I then emailed him again and mentioned it was infact not the kit I purchased he's reply was Quote ' We get a few new in box kits once in a while so we're not going to take pictures of every single kit which is the same' .... Well actually yes I do expect the same kit as the one I brought from you on ebay given the choice and price and kits condition I would have gone elsewhere as Jason had a nice kit as well .I opened a paypal dispute and escilated it the seller refused my refund request basically laughed at me for daring to take him on .
Perhaps if the kit was packed right for postage and double wrapped as mentioned in his listing if might have stayed dry but no it was only wrapped in a single piece of bubble wrap that did not go all the way around the kit .
It is now in paypal's hands my only saving grace is that this kit was paid by credit card and I will do a chargeback if I have too regardless of Paypal's rules or regulations this seller is a GRUB so guys please please dont get stung by him .
I am totally gutted by this my wife was even in horror and R/C is not her thing.

Its a shame that a small majority of Ebay sellers spoil it for honest trustworthy people. Especially when a large amount of money is involved. Hope the seller gets some bad Karma in the future. What goes around comes around.

Oh man that is sooo lame! Not only is that NOT the same box, but it's got to be in the worst condition as far as a collector is concerned. I'm sorry you have to be the one to relay that CTY300 sucks but it surely helps everyone out here on TC. I wish CTY300 only knew how many collectors that are willing to spend money on vintage kits are going to know about this. Please keep us updated with how things turn out. Man that sucks!

Such a terrible shame Swarm! They should remove him from ebay. Some people just don't understand that the box has got value too, definately for someone who's collecting NIB's! I'm crossing my fingers you're getting you're money back, another kit or a fair sollution!

Ebay and Paypal are based on the principle of honesty and they really need to sort this kind of thing out before they get their reputations tarnished along with that of CTY300 and the like. sorry to hear about that. i had bought some items from them and had no issues but that was last year. they must be really going down hill not to offer a partial refund or a reason why it wasn't safely packed against damages. i will never buy from them again. if they done that to you, who's to say they won't scam another customer. i'm dealing with jason (jr-rc) from here on out.

Outrageous !!! That is the worst box iv'e ever seen...Have faith in paypal i know they are a pain sometimes but they have come through for me in the past, make sure you send them these pictures and i don't see how you can go wrong.

The worst thing is I even emailed the seller asking about the kit and to please pack it well as it looked to be in perfect condition and I did not want to risk getting it damaged I had no reply he could have come clean there and then about it .
He definatly gave me the impression on his listing and by not replying that I in fact had purchased a pristine kit .
This kit from the ebay pictures was going to be one of the nicest kits I owned in this condition.
But the guy knew all along he was decieving me and did not give a rats .
To post this back at my expense would I would loose out $118.00 so that is not an option really .
Another thing is he charged me US$59.99 for postage and spent AUD$41.00 on postage if he had spent the extra like I paid him this could have been saved .
But the bottom line is he did not and its not the same kit I purchased.

I also added a not on the paypal invoice that said the kit I have purchased from you looks to me in Mint condition can you please ensure you pack it well for postage as it would be ashame for it to arrive damaged .
But again a mute point as its not even the kit I was reffering to at least its on hard copy with Paypal.

I have seen this auction for a long time on ebay. This is not the Hi- Lux box in the listing clearly. Alot of money for a water logged beaten 'NIB' kit. I hope you get your money back or some resolution for that matter.

Stu, TC member Moooter got stitched up bigtime from this same seller o a Monster Beetle Bodyset - took a long time for him to sot out. I ended up selling him another NIB bodyset for 2/3rds of what he paid this plonker. I wish I could help you with this one but dont have one unfortunately. link to the MB saga [Click here]

I have been on ebay since 1996, 99% of the time the seller wins the dispute...You did not get what you paid for, So I would think the dispute will go in your favor....

Well, if anything, this will serve as a HUGE reminder that he is to be avoided. Having vaguely remembered the MB bodyset saga, I haven't been antsy to buy from him. I won't lie, it has been tempting when he has some things that seem to be nowhere else on the planet. This is just plain despicable though. ALL items on ebay should be represented EXACTLY the way you will receive them, no ifs ands or butts. I mean we are not buying produce here and this is far worse than a simple bruised banana. This kit in only NEARLY worth the sum of all the parts DIVIDED by 2. That is if you could find all the parts represented on eBay. If it is helpful, I could say this kit is worth no more than the ORIGINAL hobby shop price of just about $110USD when it sold back in 1990. I know, that is a huge statement, but after years of searching for this bit and that bit for a King Cab and trying to do so again for this very truck, I think I could say I know a thing or two about pricing and this particular condition issue. I am wondering if the chassis is still pristine or is it cracked near the two large holes in the back by where the motor and transmission mount? How is the lexan body, are the decals even useable??? ALL the high dollar bits for my King Cab were the BODYSET,tires,decals and correct rims. The chassis is the SINGLE most expensive part to find MINT and it originally sold for $45USD in 1990, so there is my backing up of my statement earlier. Oh yea, forgot to ask, how is the instruction manual??? I will now commit it to my mind that I will NEVER purchase from CTY300 and if it turns into another name change fiasco, I would be afraid to say that I will have to boycott nearly all sales from Hong Kong to avoid a potential squabble with the same seller posing as someone different. It is a shame that ebay can't seem to get the bad folks off the site, but I still think that new ebay bidders might not know the extent of their rights and then there are the folks, buyers and sellers alike, that have the attitude of ENTITLEMENT. You know, I am ENTITLED to the world being handed to me on a silver platter, make it so....NOW as I don't want to be further inconvenienced.

I am so sorry this has happend to you as well. I had a similar situation with a USD 400 Celica Gr.B bodyset. My simple conclusion: STAY AWAY FROM CTY300!

I feel very bad for you that this happened. I have bought 2 Battery Packs from this seller. The Batt's were new in pkg, and they work very well in my Buggy Champ 2009. These Battery Packs are Tamiya Parts & I'm happy with them, but now that I've read your story and the other comments by fellow TC'ers I will avoid this eBay seller out of protest.

Further to my previous comment, i have just deleted all the items I have been watching from that seller. Thanks for the heads up! The problem is $500 is not worth chasing via private means. What should be done is everyone who has been caught out by this seller should report them to Ebay. Even if they act there is nothing stopping them resuming under another user name etc. All we can do is rely other members vigilance and their reports of good and bad sales.

You might still get your money back. Someone scammed me over a 1/1 run flat I sold them. They claimed it was damaged despite me providing photos to the contrary. They got a full refund from Paypal so if a dishonest buyer can get their money back I don't see why an honest buyer can't.
BTW. I've bought from CTY aswell and wouldn't have if I could've got the item elsewhere. Their prices are extortionate. They do put up a 'best offer' but set it up to immediately decline anything that's more than $5 less than their BIN so what's the point?

I got my money back after I involed the Buisness Ombudsman and the department of fair trading Paypal did not want this to be a test case so they refunded us the money and let us have access to our paypal account again.
Because paypal operate on the fringes of the law as soon as you get an outside party involved with some power they crumble .
Needless to say CTY300 still got the full money for this kit and no repremand at all I have recieved nasty emails from the seller name calling racial slurs.

And I know CTY300 has seen this as I pointed him to it and took note at the time of the views it had as soon as I emailed him the views went up 7 so he and he's cronies have had a look .

Well, I'm glad you got your money back. It's still a shame that CTY isn't being penalised or losing money out of this. I doubt they'll change their practices any time soon. All we can do is discourage as many people as we can to not buy from them. Everyone else that we can't reach will, unfortunately, have to learn the hard way.

I noticed this entry as it caught my eye when you mentioned CTY300. Mate couldn't agree with you more! My experience was (thank goodness) nowhere as bad as yours but I did from initial dealings with them feel that they were a bit shady and especially stuck-up! Luckily my purchase of Hi-Cap dampers were good tho I did pay a small fortune but thank goodness it arrived as described. However I too noticed he re-uses old photos and the used Hi-Lux and King Cab was/is most notorious! I was interested in acquiring them but as Incontinuously observed their listing it was sold but then relisted as new entry but with same photos plus abeit expensive for its stated condition. This also extends to his other listings as well thus why I am apprehensive in buying anything else, thus I steer clear! Some ppl don't understand that it's our hard-earned money (irregardless of our financial standing) that fuels our passion and that feeling is ruined by these type of individuals!
