Decided to give my DT02 Desert Gator a new bodyshell, so I snapped up a cheap Sand Viper shell from Fusion hobbies. Here's my first attempt at a custom paint job and some homemade decals, printed on White polyester label material with a colour laser. I wanted to go for something a bit classier than the decal crazy box art and something with a bit of a retro feel.

The colours I chose are Gun Metal Grey & Orange. The white stripe is made from an off-cut of white vinyl I had lying around.

Spent last week in cornwall at Pendower Beach and managed to tear myself away from the bodyboarding to give my cars a quick blast and snap some pics! I'll upload some action shots later. I was a bit disappointed though with the performance of this car on the wet, loose sand. Far to much wheel spinning and not enough top end. But still, it was fun! Even my other half enjoyed driving them cars while I took the pics, which is a real breakthrough! :)

Thanks for all the kind comments. I must admit, I'm really pleased with how this one turned out. It didn't perform as well as I'd hoped on the beach though. My 4x4 Rising storm went quicker. This one just spun alot... It's quicker on grass with the spiked tyres. Might be an idea to try the paddle type tyres on the beach (like those on the back of the grasshopper I think). The might have more purchase on the sand.

Looks a lot better! These are crazy beach buggies. Big oversteer turns under full power, ...... I need to go to the coast again!

I must admit, I want to replace the LRP motor with a Sport Tuned and give her another blast at the beach!

Cheers. It's actually more Orange in the flesh which looks even better. But I like how the grey and orange contrast... Problem is I want to paint all my cars like this now...
