I got talking to a workmate the other day & the topic changed to RC as it always does with me & he said he had a Tamiya 2wd buggy if I wanted to buy it off him, so I asked what it was when he said Astute I said yes straight away as I had always like the look of it in the Tamiya guide books etc I said I'd give him £40 for it he appcepted. The next day he brought it in & it looked hardly used had full radio gear, vintage ESC, a modified motor & Hi-cap all round. Needless to say I gave him the money before he could change his mind. I have a TTC gear set & some other stuff for this car will strip & re paint bodyshell

Bodyshell in great condition just wrong colour Front Damper looks almost new Rear Damper had Electrical tape on it Madcap mod? The Reedy motor Vintage Esc & reciever Side view Shell off Vintage Trans

No way! What an absolute peach. Fair play bud, I think that must be bargain of the century. Looks awesome, love all the hop up bits too. I really love these Astutes, ive got 2 because I like them so much. With the oldschool reedy aswell, a fantastic buggy you have there. Nice one bud!

I think you did rather well there for £40! Looks to be in great shape - the tyres look hardly worn! Its a bonus getting the HiCaps with it also. Interesting handset... I vaguely remember the Bionic Gold Futaba radio but I thought that sort was the 'Attack' (Non-R version)? The Reedy motor is also a great peice of R/C racing history... i'd love to find one in good condition for my JRX2 build

Very nice score indeed. They HiCaps along with the good condition rear tires are worth more than you spent. If you want to learn more about the MadCap mods for an Astute, including the fragile rear hubs, you should look into a Works Racing version like I attempted to make 'http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=75361&sid=2640' Great buy.
