2010 has turned out to be a good year! Not only did I get my first TRF, the TRF511, after almost 27 years with various Tamiyas - I got my second as well! And it is the 2WD offroader that most of us have waited for since the mid 90s...

The car is a great build, but the lack of carbon fibre and aluminium makes it feel less of a TRF. Dampers however, do not - they are the best I have ever seen on an RC car to date. The again, the TRF201 has the soft ball studs in some places, which is difficult to understand, particularly as it does have the blue TRF titanium turnbuckles.

It drives like a TRF and having shimmed the rear A-arms and replaced the soft ball studs it stays together like a TRF. Most importantly - it drives like a TRF!

The car has the following electronics:

Tamiya Volac BL2, Tamiya Transpeed 8.5T (with ceramic bearings) and a Futaba S9451.

The following extras are currently installed on the car:

RW Racing TRF2011 Idler Gear

Tamiya 53969 Hex Head Ball Connector

Tamiya 54226 3/32 Inch Tungsten Differential Ball

Tamiya 54242 Rear Suspension (3.0F)

Tamiya 54243 Rear Suspension (3.0R)

1 Here is what she looks like underneath the clothes 1 Aeration dampers are even better than on the 511 1 Tamiya Volac BL2 (paired with the Transpeed) It can fly... It can go on one wheel... And it can go real quick! Great fun to drive - like 2WD should be! The ideal pair for a day at the track :-) Here is what the competion see - when they lap me!

Another built one excellent, these buggy's are ment to be built and raced not just looked at. Great action pictures, and I thought I was the only one who has raced one here on TC.

Thank you for you nice comments! I am glad you like it! I think that with Lee's victories in Austria, we will hopefully see even more Tamiyas at the tracks. With this duo Tamiya is definitely back on (the race) track.

I think these look like great race cars. I raced various Tamiya 4wds in the 1990s and was about the only guy in NSW Australia to do that! I would love to return to racing with these cars. I know I can get a 201X in Australia but I've been told the 511X is not available. Thought I would look at importing one from an on line shop from the UK or Hong Kong, however no one seems to have them (511X).
