I am not sold on the light blue roof, I think a flat black roof would look better against the dark metallic purple..... what do you think ?
Hmm... crappy photos, I'll come up with some others.
I think it looks pretty cool!
Nice holiday buggy
I like the blue roof
Surely thats not an HB the wheels are under the arches..??!!
It does look a bit odd..... but nice original car...
I think a light sand or tan colour would be perfect for the dark paint.
Black should be a better choice. Or perhaps a grey or yellow roof will do?
My thoughts were to keep it similar to boxart colors, but let the colors be metallic.
The base color is a dark metal blue, roof is light metal blue - the light blue and yellow stickers have to be masked and rattle canned in.
I also like the idea of a tan top as gozone suggested.
@SRB Bloke: I never knew that there were knockoffs, the front wheels are flush with the arches, and the rear tires stick out approx. 5mm.
The Chassis and Body both say 'Tamiya RC 1/10 Holiday Buggy'
Keep those colors, mate. They're both, good and correct. Once you put the original decals (will you?) the colors will start to look much better. I like it as it is. The body of the Holiday Buggy was not made to be painted, so I do believe you did a good job with your example.
Anyway, here's the original car and its specs: [Click here]
I wonder how a charcoal grey might work??
I painted the body because I had to repair a lot of cracks and missing fender corners, so painting the body was the only option if I wanted t look nice. Was a little nervous when someone reported the paint flaking off, but this sits pretty well.
I looked at the yellow/blue decals and they don't really match the paint, so I will try to copy those stripes with paint instead. The decals you see on the model are some of the ones I could salvage from it - If I screw it up I think it will get a Tan paint scheme instead.
Thanks for the inputs guys, I really appreciate it.
