My first Baja Scorcher
Well its been a long time since I have posted anything new. I bought the Re-Re Scorcher at release and was perturbed by the box art painting.
I came across one of Moosey's DVD's that I had, Moosey Mania and loved the Baja Scorchers on there. Along with those cool examples and others on TC that I have seen in showrooms I decided to dust off my Re-Re Scorcher kit and set about cutting/trimming and filling the shell. I decided to go for a smooth look and fill in the nose cone join as well as the sunroof. I then set about removing the guttering, side and rear window rubbers and the trim line along the side as well as the holes for the side mirrors. I wasn't really sure where it was all going so started to trim the arches without a clue as to what shape I wanted. It all turned out ok up to the point where I applied my last coat of primer. I decided to leave it on the oven rack with the door open after having the oven on a low heat for 5 mins and then switched off. The filler in the sunroof then cracked. So i had to refill the cracks and start again. It all turned out ok by the looks of things. I have just to rub down and final polish it then i'll add the rear body mounting clip. Plans are to fit RR tires and perhaps alloy wheels/covers. Then an alloy rear cage and front bumper although im not decided as to what design bumper to go for. Oh, going to fit some Mini-T shocks front and rear also.
Thanks to everyone who have inspired me with their own great Baja example.
