With a bit of spare time over the holiday break I've finally gotten round to taking some shots of 'my space'. I originally had all of my cars and parts in the spare bedroom but the arrival of a couple of kids has meant that I've been banished to the basement. It's a great workspace/showroom but it's all only temporary until I create a proper purpose built 'toy room' which will be situated in the area just behind the main shelving unit in the first pic. The area where all this is now will then become a play room for the kids.

Temporary shelving. Body set boxes (empty), old RC mags & beer fridge. More shelving. 1 RC stockcar work bench and kit boxes. Main work bench- tidy for change ;) Spare parts (on rear of main shelf).

That is excellent. I too started in 86 with a Boomerang and I can see so many similarities to what I've been trying to achieve with my collection and off road 1 to 100. Wish I had basement or loft space like that! Great stuff

Seeing collections as great as this always gives me mixed feelings.... on one side it's a case of admiration, a tinge of jealousy! but mostly amazement... on the otherside I can't handle a collection of 3 cars let alone this many!!! Very impressive sir, many thanks for sharing and good luck on your journey to the 1st 100!

It has been said here before, but WOW. That is some tidy sorting you have done. I like the 'family grouping' of the cars versus strictly by model kit number. If you don't know just how many kids will be arriving, I would put the 3 speeds up a bit higher. I now know I don't have enough shelf space cleared for all that I want to build thanks to this display. What 1:1 car do those grilles belong to on the wall of the first pic????

Type49rs

3-Jan-2011

Yeah I've got them in family groups at this stage but I thinking I might put them in number order when the model room is built. Those grilles in the background are from a MK2 Escort. There is a MK2 Escort 1600 Sport hiding under the car cover just behind the main shelf. Apart from collecting old tamiya's, that's my other passion.

Renco5012

19-Jan-2011

Lol, the temporary shelving's still in use. Looks like you've got more stuff since I was over last. Great stuff

Type49rs

20-Jan-2011

Yep, the shelves are still holding out well. Just hope we don't get any earthquakes here like they're experiencing in Christchurch at the moment.

John, than is very organised! Besides all the cars, I like the bins that you have all the small parts stashed in A Seriously Cool Hangout! 3 Thumbs Up! ha ha

2-May-2012

Thanks Sunny, since these pictures were taken I now have a purpose built hobby room. Just a few more finishing touches and I'll add some fresh pics. I'll be keeping an eye out for photo's of your new 'man cave'
