Happy 2011 everyone. I wasn't sure if I should call this one 'NIB' or 'new built', since it fits in both descriptions. I believe this is the first XB Sand Scorcher here on TC. I was so happy when this one hit the Market because I have almost no painting skills whatsoever. I am thrilled to have this in my collection. It looks like a very well built Kit. The only complaint I have is that 1 of the front indicators came unglued. This probably happened during shipping, and I've already glued it back on. As I said, I'm happy to have a Box Art Sand Scorcher in my possession.

Very nice I'd trade my wife for one of these!!! Where did you source this one from?

@ HOPPIN MAD 74: I bought this on eBay, from a seller named:
RC Sausage Dog.
So, why don't you introduce me to your wife? Maybe we can work out a deal here...... Just kidding..

@ SRB Bloke: I have not seen a fully factory finished Body Set available anywhere. There are a couple of sellers on eBay selling these rtr's though, so check them out.

In 2005 or so, I once had the idea to claim that the Sand Scorcher is being re-released as an XB car. I woult have used the box of my Mini Cooper XB, would have put a Sand Scorcher inside, would have taken some pictures and would have posted them afterwards. This would have been a funny first of april joke. Incredible that this is not a joke anymore. Truly amazing.

So how is the finish? Is it just painted, or is it clear coated as well? Looks pretty good. Especially the window rubber! All you have to do is the lettering on the tires. Why don't they paint eyes on the drivers? Haha... Very nice!

Great Looking XB, as the SS is not one of the easiest to paint boxart !!

OH YES I NEED ONE!!!

@ Skottoman: The finish is just painted, without clearcoat. I think it looks great, other than the blue being just a bit thin along the edge of the driver's side rear fender.
@varkentjeGruNt: This is NOT A JOKE. It is a Tamiya product, and is being sold just as you see it here. The Part Number is 84164. Check it out for yourself. There are people selling these XB Sand Scorchers on eBay, which is where I got this one from.
@Tamiya Monkey: I just took it out of the Box today (Jan. 18th, 2011) and so far the shocks show no signs of having leaked.

Saw this one too. I think this is the most expensive XB I've ever seen. But yes, it is also very tempting, especially a person like me who never had a Sand Scorchers. Great addition!

I saw these for sale. A great collectable! Now they need to pump out the yellow and red one.

@Slimmy. I agree with you, they should do this in yellow & red. But not right away, I can't afford another RC purchase now, & I know I'd want the other one as well.......

Very, very tempting but Soooooo expensive, Not in the UK yet and Avante 6 weeks away was told, decisions, decisions! Is there a dif fitted? Agree with Slimmy on the collectable front but then again there is the blue, gold, silver, red scorcher and RR chrome bodies, decisions, decisions!! How far did it survive shipping? Enjoy and congrats on a great buy.

@Doc007: It was a bit on the expensive side, but if you think about it, you're gonna pay at least $250.00 US just for the unbuilt SS Kit, and then you still need a Radio System, and then the paint, and so on, and then you have to take the time to build & paint it, and apply the decals. To me, the difference in price was worth it. Now I have a ready-built shelf queen that looks great. There is no diff fitted, and the car & box arrived in excellent condition, all the way from Hong Kong to Canada.

Thanks for adding to the SIG. To think a few years ago the thought of a re-release was almost impossible - now a XB - amazing

...got one too from the same ebay seller... even had the loose front indicator!! Obviously it came loose during shipping because they didn't remove the chrome before applying the clue... so much for 'EXPERT BUILT! Also I noticed that those experts didn't take the time to sand the mold marks on the front and rear fenders before painting!? Apart from that and the fact that mine lost a rear axle after 3 min. of run time (possibly a temperature thing, it was freezing) I love it!
I think I am going to replace the new fake sponsor decals with some vintage ones and paint the poor driver some eyes!
