This was a request i had from t-c member MAD-BEE for a picture of four of his favourites... more-over four of my favourites as well . The scorcher is the re-re and is nearly finished (took ages) the holiday buggy is finished as is the wild one , the fav is now nearing completion and now has the correct short front swing-arms , they were an auction win for the princelly sum of £3.00 (i think ?) enjoy the pictures as much as i enjoyed the builds . Many thanks and mad bee hope the pictures ok for you buddy.. regards hot rod

nice outdoor shot for a change

nice comment many thanks (ps the hammer is not for the cars lol... was an attempt to remove the parasol which is stuck solid so has an un-wanted appearance in the pictures)

Really great bunch, love what you've done here. (I did wonder what the hammers was for, thought you might have been getting ready for some re-modeling )

Ha ha thought it best i mentioned the hammer.... have thought about using it on my mad-cap a few times . Glad you like the cars , really like the fav and its camo... took time but worth it , also the scorcher - worth noting the french blue on this is humbrol and is a slightly darker shade than tamiya's but works well

Cheers hod rod, just look at that!!! all four legends together in one shot, you must of had a smile on your face taking these pictures. The work and detail tamiya put into these 4 cars was 'outstanding' no other r/c company came close in the 70s/80s/90s and they still look out of this world today compared with anything out there.Top performance in their day but outclassed by modern standards but to me the look and overall charmisma of these 4 and more of tamiya cars like the Ford ranger, sand rover, super champ, brat, willy, Man' to many cool car to mention tamiya has made over the years wins every time. The early tamiya cars from the 70s 80s 90s had a handling to that was big fun to, not perfect but that was a good thing, from a lot of bounce from the grasshopper/ hornet/ brat/ Fav/ scorcher and Co, to the smooth and great looking wild one/fox/hot shot/Boomerang. Hot rod , did that garden knome kick off when you took the cars back inside????? I WOULD OFF!!!
Great job you have done these 4, looking excellant.
Cheers Mad-Bee

My pleasure mad-bee , they are all done to the best of my painting abilities (not brilliant!!) but a fair representation . Have lots of other projects on the go , a monster beetle (runner) another which may be new build.. super sabre (runner) manta ray (new-build) , falcon (new build) to name a few so getting at least a few built and finished is a bonus . Will agree tamiya quality is second to none and to have only a small portion of the first 100 is my salute to some great cars and some of the great builds on this site shows what can be done given a superb quality product to start with... long may tamiya reign as king

Hi hod rod and jweston, i am hooked!!!
will finish the Mad bull no 2 and my next car will be one of the fab 4, i fancy a hoilday buggy, i always feel these very old cars should still be used ' but if i got one my self i would run it just once in while but it would live on a shelf to be admaired most of the time! a F.A.V will be a big pot of money so may be a leap to far but i will get looking at the good old ebay!! maybe a remortgage ??? then i can have the lot!! have to go the wifes calling i will break the news to her tonight!! which one of the 4 cost the most total money to buy/restore hot rod ?? Cheers Mad-Bee

Hi MAD-BEE , first off yes they are money eaters and my 'flexible friend' is currently in re-hab lol . Seriously though in my honest oppinion the trends change with these cars i've noticed - so what is popular one minute is not the next so costs vary . For example my HB was a bargain at £41 and was nearly complete but did buy it just has the re-re had come out , now people have seen the re-re and want the original so those originals become more sought after.... fav and wild ones look likely to never be re-relased so are rare and expensive and the scorcher ? expensive either re-re or original . Best one to look out for purely on parts availability against purchase cost is the wild one . Have seen alot on the bay and good used examples can be found reasonable price . Repro body and drivers are available and most parts interchangeable with the fav . Pity i have not still got my w/one runner would have sold that to you for a good price . Hope this helps , j weston is good for advice too

Ps mad bee , will add holiday buggy can be a good buy too but some parts can be difficult to find on the chassis side... not so much the body as the A sprue from the re-re is identical to the original

In all my waffling forget to mention the one pictured costing the most was my scorcher.... purely as it is brand new. The most expensive other than that was the wild one . Car was a wreck (see show room) and was missing lots of parts... need a complete or almost complete car and go from there . Regards hot rod

MAD-BEE, Hot Rod is on the money - vintage Holiday Buggies are bargains at the moment because of the rere. I tried to sell my project and it didn't raise more than £50 so I kept it until I find a better example. HBs are tough to restore though IMO. J

Cheers hod rod / jWeston for all the banter and top advice, Looks like a holiday buggy or wild one then?? Both beautiful cars. I better put a few more hours in! Have a good weekend Cheers MAD-BEE.

Many thanks for all your comments really is good to know what my fellow members think , as for a fav/wild one re-issue ? would be great and cant see why not as the transmission problems that plagued them and others were addressed in the re-re frog/brat so heres hoping

well singleseven you picked up on my beloved f.a.v . Is my favourite too and is a labour of love with finding parts to get it back to originality but has gradually paid off . Thanks for the comment buddy
