The 10th anniversary car is READY. What a legend!
Well, I'm all smiles now. Last month I received a Levy Lancaster driver figure for the BigWig from henrikw (all the way from Denmark, the land of the most beautiful women -so I've been told) and from PSastute I got the number decals missing, this time from Switzerland, land of the über beautiful Alps.
I also got a new set of tires and decided to work a bit on the look of the mock motor. No more worries about the yellow exhausts! :)

Hi Erich very nice work my friend, like what you have done to the exhausts and the driver is fantastic.
SMOKE-DOG
Nice work.

I love this car mongoose, when this car was 1st released it sure did turn heads it was such a butch car with its twin front shocks and gold motor with the big 8.4 battery and that wide front nose, oh yes this was 'MR BIG' but then you would see the yellow pipes at back that had a cheap toy car look .What were tamiya thinking !! so good job on covering that yellow mate , and great looking MR BIG you have there and great painting on the driver! I have a bond with this car but not sure why, it must of been the age i was when i first clapped my eyes on it on the track it just looked like something really special. But it did not do that well at our club in results, but we all wanted one!!!Cheers and good night the wifes calling for me to get of the computer!!! cheers MAD-BEE.
mongoose1983
@MAD-BEE: you just gotta have one of these
@HOPPIN MAD 74 & SMOKE-DOG: Thank you, guys! I'm also happy because the 'BigWig owners & enthusiasts' worked out fine and now we have more than 25 members. We are alive and kicking, and also giving some recognition to this unsung milestone in Tamiya's history.

nice work!
SRB Bloke
Good resto job, well done
SB_Aust
Excellent resto and presentation!

Looking good EB, one of my all time favorites too! nice restoration/competition, good luck on your motor options
mongoose1983
Thank you all for the positive comments! @BeetleLover: No, the motor I was asking would eventually be for a chassis that a local guy talked me about. My BigWig still has the original Mabuchi Technigold installed!
Fernado Alonso
Wow Erich!Compliments for the Big Wig and the guy's who helped you out with the missing parts
Isn't TC a great Family;D
The Big Wig is looking great now very nice
Cheers and have nice day,
Alex

Looking good Erich, nice job painting the driver, posted the part to you on Monday. Andy
henrikw
Looking good Erich, hope you are dooing well! Levy Lancaster have sure come a long way, so to speak Japan (Tamiya) -> Germany (Distrubtor) -> Denmark -> Chile and with various owners in between! And the paintjob is good looking also.
mongoose1983
@ stickerbod: Thanks Andy (for both, the part and the positive comment). I like how the driver looks. I really wanted to paint the helmet white, but I decided to work the face and just clean it because I don't have access to another one of those Simpson decals to finish it properly. That's the reason the helmet doesn't look perfect.
@ henrikw: Ol' Levy has travelled around the world but still he doesn't look tired.
@ Fernado Alonso: Thanks, mate. And yes, you're right.

Wow, this has turned out excellent! I used to have a couple of these quite some years ago, and actually, they run pretty good in my opinion.. Well, that is if you don´t have too many tight turns, LOL.
Cheers..

Retro rules!
Very nice mate. I think it looks better in the lighter shade of blue that you used. I'm liking the BigWig more and more
87blackfoot
Wow! That looks great! You did a great job! The driver came out great. The air scoop looks great to.

Can't beat a Biggy
mongoose1983
I think you're right, John. Can't beat a BigWig! @Retro Rules: thank you, but I can't take credits for what the previous owner did. Actually, this lighter blue is what I don't like about the car. Had I own from new, I know I would have gone for a much darker, maybe metallic blue, much more in tune with the illustration shown in the box.
Other than that, THANK YOU GUYS!!
Naxman
Looks great Erich! Nice job on the driver too! I like what you did with the exhaust pipes. Awesome work!
Powerbruiser
Hi Erich! I knew that it would turn out great! Fantastic job on the driver!

Marvelous! great looking 10th anniversary BigWig, and glad to hear you got it finished, I bet it's a real 80's blast to drive!
mongoose1983
Thanks, Neil! And yeah, just like you said, this one's a blast to drive. Have you seen the test run video?

Objection your honour! The most beautiful women come from Holland! Just as the best cheese, football players and speed skaters. Best Biwigs however come from Chile.... hehe
mongoose1983
Haha. Dutch women are beautiful indeed, Danny. I've never been there, and probably never will, but from the ones I have seen in person they are gorgeous!
Oh, and thanks for the compliment on the Big Wig. I tried to make it look good, after all it IS Tamiya's 10th anniversary RC vehicle and so it should look good. It's a legendary model.
By the way, just yesterday I spent some time with a Dutch friend of Fernado Alonso. We watched a tennis match from 1991 (Becker-Lendl, AU-Open). A great guy, he wanted to check the mechanics of the Bruiser, which is a very special Tamiya model truck.
Anyway, thanks for stopping by, Danny. Hope you have a great Wednesday!

Muy lindo te salió Erich!
whispers
nice job mate i've yet to paint my driver properly looks great
mongoose1983
@whispers: Thanks! Will be great to have a look at your Big Wig buggy when it's all ready.
sunnyjai
Actually the lighter shade of blue looks nicer on the Wig', hmm
mongoose1983
@sunnyjai: And what about the exhausts? Have you seen them? I thought that was the interesting ''touch''.
Kendalboatsman
Your Bigwig looks amazing and the lighter blue really suits the car, mine was painted in the alternative Black scheme.
mongoose1983
@Kendalboatsman: Thanks for the positive comment. I really like the boxart colors better, but I also like shiny black a lot!
eleman666
great looking bigwig, i like the lighter blue it suits the car well
mongoose1983
@eleman666: Thanks, mate. I wish I could take credit for the color, haha. The body was already painted by the original owner, but the ''touches'' like the exhausts and cam covers are mine
