Good things often come to us when we expect them to.. ;)

I was looking for an RC10 Goldpan that I wanted to shorten for a re-re Scorcher body when they first became available again. Having had a Scorcher as a kid 'and been there and done that!' I didn't want another SRB (..or so I thought!) :) The only requirement I had for the Goldy was that it had to have the short front suspension arms of the earlier models. I cruised the Bay and within a day or two saw a potential candidate for my plan. A quick/easy deal was made and the chap was quite happy to get rid of his old dust box.

It took ages to arrive and I set about cleaning it up before surgery for my RC10 Baja project. To my amazement, under all the gunk and grime was a pre-A Stamp Edinger with only the smallest of nicks to it- two of the 'littlest in fact. The plastics were all still bright white without any scratches and it had factory bearings installed throughout. I would guestimate by rub on the original AE tyres that it would not have been run for any more than five 1500 battery packs. The pinion and spur gears look brand new along with the shiny aluminium slipper plate. It did have a few short comings that someone with the lack of proper tools, skills, or both might have done. The suspension links were damaged by pliers and the gold shock caps were scored, otherwise it was pristine.

I have since stripped, cleaned and rebuilt the entire chassis and replaced most of the required bits. A complete set of new, period correct shocks was installed and a bag each of front and rear anti-roll bars are waiting their turn. A NIP resistor and wiper arm will also be wired in without the blobs for solder and fitted onto new mounting brackets. Plans for finishing is to retain the classic lines but to also incorporate a bit of RACECRAFTERS personality into the new body and wing - this however, will require the right mood for painting.

I do appreciate my fortune with this little gem and I hope you enjoy looking at my pics - I will add more after I have completed the driver and body with headlights and all :) ..until then, 'keep the rubber side down!

The World is an awesome place.. We just need to take a moment in our day to look around us. Make a mental note of ALL the GOOD things we see, and in just five minutes the Whole World will start looking a lot better as well. Now where do I start? Ok, right here.. I'm going to take a long deep breath and fill my lungs with fresh air.. then go for a work along the ocean. At times it will be fast, and others it will be slow. I will try and be consistent, and maybe even get a bit of exercise in the process. When I get back, I would like to see a few goodies that you Lads have been creating today. Asta la Vista..! my happy RC Car Meisters. ;)

Hi RACECRAFTERS, this is the car that all us Tamiya car owners really feared when it first turned up at our club. Its performance was awsome!! a true R.C. legend. Look forward to seeing this on completion. Cheers MAD-BEE!!

Thank you alfettalimo, but it's not about the money - it's only about its value to me as an early RC10. This car is legendary and RC Car history. It gets even better yet, when I'm holding it in my hands.
