Here is my attempt at fitting teh 1/9 Kubelwagen engine in the cage. Its not complete yet, fan housing and pulley, the air intakes, the exhaust etc, all awaiting the final position of the lump.
It is a bugger to fit, bieng ever so slightly too big it wants to stick out everywhere. But I think it is looking ok, the first few stages of painting it have worked quite well I think, and I am toying with matching the blue rocker covers to the body, they're a bit dark at the mo. I think it ads a little something to the overall look, and cant wait to get an exhaust on there, not sure what to do yet, stinger or something a little different............

Hey mate, looks fantastic! Here are some pics I took of the 1:1 Scorcher at last years Toy Fair. Thought they might help: [Click here]

Although the Kubelwagen model is 1:9 I think the engine was only something like 1198cc, so with modded bugs etc they probably have at least 1600 but more likely larger Barrel's and internals giving 1835 or something... so it's possible the engine is back to being close to scale again...

Wow, thanks everyone for your kind words. It is comingtogether nicely. I think you are right Dante, it isn't far off a larger bore, the main issue is getting it to sit under the body far enough to look right. I have cut the engine as far back as two entire cylinders in the middle and it still needs to do back a little more yet, but I want to keep as much engine as poss. Hieght is also an issue, the sump guard is already flush with the underside of the cage and I have to fit teh Fan pully yet. Might have to raise the body 5mm or so. Still, I have till the 19th, its going to the beach run on the 20th! Seems only natural to get it out in the sand. And I think I will create something alittle different for the exhaust. I have soom big bore silencers in resin that are begging....
