Here's my boat from back in the day, a Graupner Scimitar Speed. It's from the golden age of Graupner watercraft. I have it since 1987, when I got it from Santa (good old Santa). It was used a lot back then, but lucky enough it made its journey through the time capsule without damage. In the last couple of weeks I gave it a major overhaul, including replacement of damaged parts. The electronics were still working, but the mechanical speed controller was missing. I could find a replacement on ebay and voila, my boat is in period correct condition again! I even have my original Graupner D4 radio, which also made the time journey.

The boat is modeled after the 'Scimitar' made my Glastron Carlson from 1980 to 1984. They were outstanding in workmanship and design. More info about these can be found here:

This one is one of my personal favourites for sure and will stay mine to the end of days.

with box and radio interior. yes, they had gears back then! Graupner Catalogue 1984 me driving in 1988 the real one - Glastron Carlson advert

Very nice model! I was tempted lately to get a Graupner Commodore again - we had one back in the good old days when the price of gas was too low to be of interest and Walter Roehrl was still driving his Opel Ascona A.

Oh, sweet! Was my favourite back then. A friend of mine had the 'Sea-Commander'. It was so expensive with all the optional parts. I only made it to the 'Pollux'...

That sure is a beautiful boat. You have done a great paint job on it. Nice work. Glad you still have it.

Well, well, this is the most amazing post I ever saw on this site. Those pictures brings back so much memories. The huge Graupner catalogue is still the bible for any modeller I think. They have almost every single object that a serious modeller can use.I remember this little picture with the range putting the boat into the water and I dreamed about it for hours when I was 12.My dad had a Glastron back in the early 80' with those typical shape and colours and it was for shure one of the best boats on the market.I really love your action picture with typical outfit of the 80'.I love the way all your friends are looking to this boat. Are you the guy with the remote control in your hands?

@pcw 064: thank you very much for your kind words. I could flip through the pages of the old Graupner catalogue all day, just as I used to back then. Yes, it's me in picture with the radio in my hand. It's the very same radio as in pic #6. I was at the age of 14. The picture was taken on my brothers 12th birthday (he's on the far right) and the other kids are his mates. That's why I'm a bit taller than most of them

What I like the most is the speed of the boat.In those years a 5 min run at 6 km/h on water was a top speedboat.I bought a boat with lipo 4S-6000 and huge brushless engine. It runs a 60 km/h on water during 21 minutes. When I was 12 and I tried my brand new grashopper with himb 7.2 barrery and standart 380 engine it was lighten fast compare to the toy Nikko's I had before.Trough the eyes of a kid there is some magic and remeber those moments is great. Thanks for that

nice one greg, i have got the same boat, got mine of the bay about 6months ago, mine needs a resort, but it came with the box and is 99% all there. i did have a NIB but sold it to a TC member from holland. i wanted to build it but it would have been a waste. can wait to see mine in the drink. thanks for showing us yours. i will upload some pics of mine soon.
