Sarah on the Bay sold this car to me. The auction was ended early, surprisingly almost immediately after I had placed my bid. I was informed that shipping costs would be very reasonable.

Well, I should have known..! 4 months later and after numerous liasing, I discovered that they had chosen the drop-kick shipping method. It obviously required a number of drop kicks after leaving Hong Kong in order to land in New Zealand.
The 'packaging' was simply a card wrapped around the center of the box with both short ends visible. This was then 'sealed' in brown paper, which was torn open enroute. A sumo snail was chosen to take the kick.

Blister packs had broken open and the box was creased through the middle. On close inspection, the body had stress marks on the roof and bonnet from being squashed with dings along the side caused by the loose parts which had come out of their torn blister packs. Nothing was missing.

These pics were emailed to them with request for replacement at my cost for return shipping. After a few emails to and fro, it was decided that they would replace the body. I was satisfied with this compromise and said that I will return the original damaged body. However, I was told that there was no need to do so.

Seven months has since passed and Sarah still sells Scorcher bodies and rc gear on the Bay - However, I am still waiting for my replacement to arrive. Sarah / rccrsarahdc2009 will not get any business or recommendations from RACECRAFTERS again.

Mate, you must have felt sick when that arrived in that state. But you've got a Scorcher none the less. Now build it and add one of your flawless RACECRAFTERS paint jobs.

i was tempted too by sarah's good price but packaging were too bad, for me now only Jason Store, Stellamodels or Dinball

Volksrod

Just be thankful it wasn't a vintage NIB kit!! But i'd be annoyed too. Build it, enjoy it, forget about the state it arrived in

I have purchased from them before ,I made enquires about packing before I went through the checkout and I was informed if I wanted a box it was going to cost me $40.00 more ...Slack ebayers it pays to do your homework first I have learnt .
I now always make enquires about packing first .

Cheers for your comments MAD-BEE, scaletamiya, John - Type49rs, neobrunox, Volksrod and Swarm. Yes, I do admit to being dissappointed as this car should have brought along fond memories from the past. I have since purchased a new body which is currently being worked on. The plan is to make a practical and fearless beach blaster

Looks more vintage than an original...I can't believe how bashed it is. Feel for you mate.

@ Swarm - It was actually after this incident that they included/changed their packing options in their auctions.

Sorry man, that really sucks.

Wandy

29-Mar-2011

That is a DISGRACE. Did it really take 4 months to arrive or have I read that wrong?

TIMECMDR

29-Mar-2011

OMG!!! That is not good at all. I feel for you my man!! These kind of sellers are the ones that give Ebay a bad name!!!
Have you tried to make contact with them since?

RACECRAFTERS

29-Mar-2011

Thank you Chain Driven, SRB Bloke, 7.2inchdriver, Wandy and TIMECMDR for your comments. @ Wandy - Yes, purchased in mid July and arrived 23rd November. An amazing comparison is that I have purchased gear from RC Mart and it was on my door step 3 days later!
@ TIMECMDR - Yes, when they started selling SS bodies on the Bay I contacted them. Their reply was that they are sending it and a follow up later was that they knew nothing about it. I still have all the emails.

Eish Mallo, dis 'n moerse teleurstelling. Een van die redes hoekom ek maar skrikkerig is vir E-bay. Sekere ander independants soos Junfac is super met versendings maar hulle verkoop nie regtig sulke kits nie. Beter luck next time Pal! Onthou wat jy saai sal jy maai.

Wow..that is maddening..I'm with SRB Bloke....I'll pitch in on air travel costs for the squad. Ebay can be risky at times..I'd like to shake it like a tree full with fruit so that all that remains are the good ones.

Surely this seller should not be allowed to sell on ebay anymore !
If you have their address I would mail them a pile of something nasty... poorly packaged of course.

I thought from the first picture it was a vintage release. Wow, that just sucks! But build it and you will forget all about the box, well almost...

Am glad I've always avoided that Ebay seller - shocking!

This hurts my eyes, that's the reason I try always to buy at shops or collectors so that you can have a nice talk and the security to have exactly the object you want for some Euros more.I think custommers creates this kind of disagreements. When you want quality you have to pay a bit more and then enjoy really your object.Everything has his price.Whatever, feel very sory for you as this is not a pleasant feeling.Next time better.

henrikw

29-Mar-2011

at first I was thinking, racecrafters just scored him self an vintgae nib scorcher, nice! But then I read your story I's a really sad way to treat other peoples time and money! Thank's for the warning! And do enjoy the build, it's a nice kit for sure.

berman

29-Mar-2011

That is sickening! I cant believe people can be so negligent. Like others have said, build it and try to forget it. You can rise above this!

Thank you Tyboart, Meakz1973, prplehz, j-man, WW-nut, pcw 064, henrikw and berman for your kind comments. @ pcw 064 - EBay is a medium whereby to trade - you cannot place onus on Any honest paying customer. However, when the principles of honesty is breached, I question Your integrity with regard your statement. You also mention quality - it is Tamiya quality mate, and I have also owned a new one before - I knew what I was buying. My chassis has since been assembled and work is being done on a newly purchased body from RCMart (I am yet to try Stella Models as I do believe they also offer great value and service) Thanks again Guys

Thank you for pointing out yet another eBay seller to best avoid unless there is NO WAY they can screw up or break what you are buying. It certainly wins for that RE RE looking like a vintage garage find award though. I cannot think of any other better reason than to build it though.

oh its looks hurt for your nice SS box we will never pack like this unprofessional.

RACECRAFTERS

No worries FLM. I fixed this box by replacing it with four new ones and built the car as my runner.
