Here it is... a groove slightly transformed...
'I have one at last...' is what I screamed with joy some time back. I had planned on posting the NIB pics, I had taken some for posterity, but I kinda misplaced them somewhere and I'd taken so long to get this thing built so I figured I wouldn't bother. On top of that I was going to wait until I'd finished painting the driver but, after spending the last few weeks worth of days off doing nothing but messing it up, I've given up on that plan too.
So here it is as I've built it. I didn't bother getting the titanium screw kit because I don't need to worry about its weight. I'm not going to race it, competitively or otherwise, so lessening the weight this tiny amount wasn't necessary. I did, however, want to put a Tamiya Super Modifed 11T motor in it (which I ripped out of my TA04TRF because it's getting a Transpeed MS 10T when I can get round to it) so that meant I had to get smaller pinions. Victor101 had some and some of the rubber joint covers in stock so these are the only real upgrades I have in this build.
The body and decals - The body and wing are extras I bought from jr-rc so that I could have a runner shell and the underchassis cover thing is one from TBG that I'd gotten as part of a job lot last year. The decals are the Avante 2011 sheet as I hadn't gotten round to ordering a set of repro Avante decals. This is my runner shell so I don't mind the re-re decals so much. When I get round to doing my shelfer shell I'll use the set of repro decals I got last week from tamiyoman to get that 'vintage' look.
The Paint - It's the limited edition paint I got while on holiday in the Philippines. The colour is PS Iridescent Blue/Green and I've used this colour on the body, wing, underchassis and on the edges of all the carbon plates. I sealed the carbon edges first with CA glue before painting and it looks really nice but it's fragile and can scratch off easily. Maybe if I'd painted before sealing it'd hold better but nevermind. It's too late to undo it now.
The Electronics - As mentioned there's a Tamiya Super Modified 11T Motor fitted to this model. This has a 12T pinion on it and a silver 3Racing heatsink. The ESC is a Nosram Magnum Reverse (also taken from my TA04TRF build) and this is hooked up to an Acoms DR224 2.4Ghz receiver. I've placed the receiver so that the aerial sits right where the aerial tube holder would be placed, negating the need for the holder itself and allowing the aerial to go straight up from the receiver. As always I have stuck with my usual 7.2v stick packs to provide power.
Bonus Wheels - The DF03 wheels don't like being combined with the rubber covers. The tiny gap between the wheel and the rod end is completely taken up by the cover once it's on so I had to change out the rear hex mounts for ones 1mm wider. This was enough to let the wheels rotate without rubbing on the covers but I wasn't completely comfortable with this amount of space so I added a Tamiya blue wheel spacer (0.5mm I think) and that basically maxxed out how much space I could get out of the axle without having to use thinner wheel nuts aswell. On these wheels I've fitted a set of Proline Dirt Hawgs which I'd originally bought for my TL01B conversion project. These tyres were a smidge too big for the TL01B wheels but they're nice and snug on these ones so that's worked out nicely for me.
Here's some pics. If I ever get round to actually finish painting my driver/cockpit I'll post more pics of it completed.

Very nice in that colour and, despite your probs, those wheel look good Are they the 'bonus item' that's mentioned on the box?
VagabondStarJXF
@JWeston - The colour is lovely and the pics, as usual, just don't seem to do it any justice. If I could setup the lighting properly then perhaps... oh, yes the DF03 wheels are the 'Bonus Item' as mentioned on the box. Tyres not included.
@KEV - Thanks. Now if only I could get the driver/cockpit looking nice aswell...
JWeston
those iridescent colours are a nightmare to photograph so I wouldn't worry

Thanks.

Vid's up! It's funny how it's pretty much only green in these pics and only blue in the vid.
