Kyosho Beetle 'Sand Scorcher's evil sibling'
I found this Kyosho Beetle on Ebay for a reasonable price. On the first glance it looked like a wreck but taking a closer look I found that it was actually in a quite good shape concerning the technical side. The bodyshell and the tires were brittle and covered in a kind of finger paint or similar stuff. Why don't people remove the tires before painting the rims? It took really long to clean wheels and tires with the help of brake fluid. I fixed the remains of the crumbling tires with superglue for now because I'm too avaricious to buy NIB ones for crazy money. I hope someone will do repros of them in the near future. The car came with period correct radio gear which I kept after giving it a good cleaning job. Unfortunately the previous owner used superglue to seal the cable duct in the radio tub so all I could do was cutting the cables and drill the duct open. I thought that a LeMans 240S would be nice addition to the car's back although it would fry the MSC if I would really run it ;-) Bodyshell and decals are repros by fellow TC member Integra Fan. I decided to do Yamaha's 'Speed Block' livery again so the Beetle would match my Buggy Champ. Of course the shell isn't that detailed as the Sand Scorcher's one but I like it a lot. I have to admit being a Kyosho fan and in my eyes Vintage Kyoshos are the epitome of racing buggies from the 80's. Don't worry, I like Tamiyas as well ;-) Thanks for watching buddies!
