Finished my RSR. A VERY time consuming project and a tedious one at that. If I had had one of these as a kid it would have looked a real mess. I disassembled the entire body piece by piece. It had been originally put together 30 some years ago with super glue type material. I carefully pulled, pried and chiseled it apart. I then carefully went in and dremeled out heavy rock hard deposits. I then started to sand the parts which took a LONG time as I went in order of about 5 different grades of paper. I had several email chats with a couple club members (442xcar and slimmy..thanks guys) about variations and parts- things NOT to do. I decided to leave the plastic green and clear coat it..it was not an easy choice as I had seen it in Cobalt Green and it looked awesome BUT..I'm glad I did..I like the simplicity of it and it says to me what identifies this car. I finished it out with spare parts from the static RSR kit which is older than this car so I didn't feel any guilt about that - I gave it a nice mesh grill, some of the little bits here and there. I had originally had the interior on the doors but not enough space due to the battery holder on the chassis. The decals were super thin and easily flipped upon themselves. It happened with the front hood stripes...I ended up cutting and splicing it, nearly avoiding disaster - it did manage to lose some ink in the process of carefully unwinding it but minimal and I was lucky. A very slow and difficult project for a guy like me. The stripes on the wheel wells do wrinkle a bit...something nearly unavoidable but they laid down pretty decent for me. Lots to talk about as it was a complicated project that I'm REALLY glad is finished.

Sound like a long job - looks worthwhile though. Very nice. You were wise to take that approach with the colour - it looks very realistic..

Great job, well done. I know these projects take a long time. But definately worth it in my opinion..

Ty, The car looks awesome! It really does look good just clear coated. I really like the mesh in the front air dam. And I also like how you went with the number 5 car with the camel yellow on the front spoiler. I painted mine with the yellow but went with the number 9 car. Which is not correct. The number 9 car did not have yellow on it. But I wanted mine boxart. Yours is very, very nice. And you should be very proud of this car. It just looks amazing! Well done my friend. Well done.

although I'm not a box-art fan, this is one of those paint-schemes that is just 'too cool'!.....

Ty, it looks fantastic! You've done a great job. I have two of these cars in a pretty poor state but you've given me inspiration. Thanks for the TS-13 tip, I've been in need of just that!

Thanks very much for the kind compliments! I'm experiencing a little post-build depression but I have more to do but with summer rolling around might take a little break and see the outdoors...
