it doesn't seem like much but I've spent many hours sanding the body back after working out that grey primer is not the best to use with light coloured paint! Plus I needed to practice my technique a little, but still this is the first model I've painted in 25 yrs, so I am still happy with the outcome so far. I've also rebuilt the front bumper area, and I had to reinforce the body where the wheels are as I noticed lots of cracking after the brake fluid bath.
I'll still need to fix the rear wing as the chrome has not faired well over the years. I've going to try a few techniques that I have read on these forums and elsewhere. As for the stickers, I will be making my own. I found a scan of the full set on tamiya base, have hand traced the set I want. I will print the coloured stickers onto either white water release decals or printable vinyl, and for the white lettering I will screen print onto clear water release decals. I like the water release decals as the film is very thin, but I'll need to lacquer the body afterwards to protect the stickers.
The tyres are in pretty poor condition and have lots of cracks. I started trying to remove the old white lettering and stopped after I realised I was just scrapping the rubber off! So it'll probably be new tyres at some stage.
