After a bit of a sort out of various bits n pieces some weeks ago, I discovered that I had rather a lot of surplus spares from the ORV chassis cars (That's the Frog, Monster Beetle and King Blackfoot family in case you're in any doubt); in particular two bare bones chassis'. I also had a long wheel-base Proline Baja shell that was once on my Slash 4x4, and I wondered how easy it would be to extend the standard ORV chassis so that this 1/8 scale beetle shell would fit.

What we have here is the result. Basically as you can see from pic 4, it's simply a matter of taking two ORV chassis' and cutting the front off one, and the rear off of the other and joining them in the middle where the battery would usually go. Then, after trimming off some other gubbins, lay another flat sheet of aluminium in the space between so that you can fit a battery longtitudinally as opposed to laterally as in the standard car

The end result actually feels surprisingly rigid with all that metal work holding things together. No motor just yet, but 8.5t EZRun Brushless and 2S LiPo will most likely be the order of the day. Action pics will follow in a couple of weeks!

Heh.. cheers guys. I think looking at it, the only thing I'm going to change is lower the body a little. Looks on the high side.
