I've been slowly collecting parts for my Celica LB Turbo restore, and after last weeks ebay win of a new chassis, I how have enough parts to make two complete cars. I just need a new/old bumper and speed controller. I've also worked out that if I use a citrus based cleaner, I can remove the old stickers with damaging them and then use an optically clear 3M adhesive to re-apply the usable ones again.

started patching, need to remove stickers though Citrus based cleaner does the trick all clean, can continue patching and sanding I was tempted to go all MAD MAX on it I now have enough parts to make a new kit the remover I used

Can I get a bit more infor on the BRANDS of the remover, I think I saw some citrus base at the art supply house yesterday, also the 3M adhesive, product number and proper name PLEASE. I would also love to hear if the adhesive will work mostly on styrene(hard bodies) or also on Lexan. I have old decals here that are begging to be used, especially since the decal remakers are out of business for the time being.

I love these old Tamiya's and I look forward to seeing the end result of this one,I can see you have your work cut out but it will be so worth it !! I had the Countach CS which I abused to the max by adding an extra gearbox, axle, motor, wheels etc (a kind of 6 wheeler dragster I suppose!) I then topped it with an added deck to strap on half a dozen firework rockets and an Alluminium body shell that wouldnt melt lol I wish I had took a photo though ! It now rests in my TC showroom with a new original body on it,
Good luck with the Resto

Crash Cramer - the remover I used was made by planet ark and is called orange power, but I'm pretty sure any citrus based cleaner will work. But always test first. I soaked the area with the cleaner and after about 10 minutes used a scapel blade to lift the edges. When I had enough to grip, I pulled the rest of the sticker off. Next I do this I'll video the procedure. The 3M tape I use should be fine for both types of bodies, but I can test and find the product name when I'm back at work on Monday.

Thanks for the comments everyone. kougercat - that sounded like it was a lot of fun. I must admit I like the older cars a lot more than the newer ones. There are a few I'd still like to collect, but I have enough projects to keep me going for quite awhile.

crash cramer - I bought the cleaner from the local supermarket too, so its just a general household cleaner, and cheap!

Yogi, thank you for the info and the forthcoming info. There is the fact that YOUR supermarket will be quite different from mine, but I get the idea.

Crash Cramer - I see you are in texas, so yeah different products, but citrus based cleaning products should be similar in the Australia, USA or Europe. But always test first! Its the citrus element that is important, as its a weak, oily acid, and tends to attack the glue and not the plastics.

unfortunately haven't found diplo yet, just the stock road tires. The one in the picture is one I have left over, and unfortunately lost the other one
