Did some more work on this one-added a rack, some accessories and a driver. Used a vinyl shower curtain for the tarp. Wrapped it around some wood shapes, glued it down on the bottom, then took a heat gun to shrink it down tight. I cheated on the rack, didn't make it myself-it was actually part of a wire make up bin (my wife will not miss it!). I liked it because it was chrome and took to the rust nicely. I did fab the supports and the small clamps that hold the rack to the roof rails. I will probably add some lights at some point.

Wow that looks great!!!! I would look at putting the brat wheels on it, the wider tires in the front would look great! Nice job!

this thing is so awesome, I love the detailing and can learn something from it as with all your models. I like the use of found materials it saves time, I know if I can use or modify an existing item for the new purpose I do it

AWESOME! rack looks spot on how about a teck deck strapped on there? with a few 'used' grind scrapes etc. Great work.

Really awesome! Goes directly to my favorites. One of the most creative and scale looking vehicles I have seen here in TC. Your work is really outstanding, mate.

I agree with Ram318, it looks excellent and wider front wheels would suit it. The roof rack looks perfect.

got me thinking, what if you ran two sets of RR wheels/tires on both the front AND rear..maybe give it a more scale look...such a cool concept you have there that just about any wheel/tire combo is gonna look good lol...

Really appreciate all the great feedback and comments! You guys are great! As far as the front wheels are concerned, I go back and forth whether to change them or not. I like the fact that it's a Scorcher set up vs hybrid although the larger tires are a valid approach too-I am going to leave as is for now-seeing that I don't have any other tire choices in my spares bin. The body is by Maisto. You can still find them on eBay, at least in the States, sold as a complete RC toy.

What color do you used as 'green'?

Franklin

26-Sep-2011

It was Tamiya field gray spray paint. The fact that the color underneath was blue made it a touch more green. It is a matte finish color.

Very similar to this one specially for the rear wheels.. even if i would prefer narrow wheels on the rear..

Yes, I saw that one too. I still favor the Sand Scorcher rear tires so far but I am always changing things so who knows. Thanks for your comment!

...and what colors did you used to paint it? They looks awesome!!!

Franklin

28-Sep-2011

The light color is Rustoleum brand antique white spray-the green is Tamiya Field Gray spray. Everything was given layers of dull clearcoat in between weathering.
