I wound up building a replica of my buddy's JK. Started with the typical New Bright body, which was masked and re-painted in metallic silver to match, then painted/added all the details back onto the body. The chassis was made to fit this body and was formed from square tubing slit into rails. Wheels have 5mm wideners. Work went into trimming the shock coils to get more of a scale stance. RC4WD shocks, Jeep wheels and 1.9 Rock Lox. I used an Axial drive train and plastic links. Custom touches include the correct plate, nav screen with map of the local area, fabric spare tire cover, a cargo of items that relate to particular interests. Some have stories behind them! The idea was to build something detailed but easy to drive and maintain. I know there is not much here from a Tamiya standpoint but I wanted to share with the crew!

Dont knock it, this is perfect authenticity! Lovely work and beautiful finish. I have yet to attempt a scale crawler/offroader, something that looks realistic, but if its as half good as this then I'll be chuffed. Great scale work! Oh and lovely pics too.

Thanks Dirt. I never build anything to look stock so this was a change for me. Appreciate the kind words!

You should be very proud - that looks real, even knowing it is a model it's hard to believe it isn't real...

My word, thought the pics were of your friends JK. Had to see the body off pic before it dawned that it's actually 1:10 scale. Brilliant work!! You sure fooled me.

Thanks again for the great feedback! This actually a pretty smooth driver. I think its due to the fact that its all Axial SC10 drive train on a longer chassis. It was very easy to set up!

I saw exactly this truck in 1:1 today (pretty rare in the Netherlands) It looked just like yours: they had copied the paint, the black and all the details just like yours.... Great work!

lol, I didn't look at this in the main gallery as I thought it was just a real car reference picture. But now I looked when I saw it was in the sig. and with the shadows hiding the axles it is really hard to tell its not a real car. nice work

Thanks again for all the feedback. Appreciate the comments, Seth. I owe a lot of the realism to the RC4WD wheels and tires. They really help add to the scale appearance.
