This is why work stopped on Sand Rover, this will not be a competition entry as its outside the rules. Just a bit of background, I've been meaning to do it for ages as it inspired by a pice by the mexican artist Damián Ortega, the comp just pushed me to do it.

I don't think it is within comp rules, but I would vote for it because it's a winner; excellent!

Oh BTW, Thanks for all your comments! But won't be posting them up so any objections to comp entry can remain anonymous & this is not the one I would enter.

I have to comment again, Comp entry or not you have to appreciate what you've created. I might be wrong but it must take forever to input all that information.. Very impressed.

NOT GOING TO BE A COMP ENTRY!!!!! Closer inspection of rules makes that quite clear....'You are allowed to USE any software you like to help enhance the composition but the majority of the entry MUST BE PHOTOGRAPHIC. ie no 3d only renders' I think they saw me coming with this one . Thats all good & no problem, but many thanks to all for your fantastic and most flattering comments.

Regardless of not being entered in comp I will be finishing it and there will be more angles.

Thanks again all! much appreciated. WOW nearly 800 hits in 24 hrs! Yes its taken a while, its been an on & off project for years and is the project which brought me here to TC. This particular setup took about 12 hours over 7 days. The exploded layout exposes short cuts I took and forgot about, i.e. solid front beams instead of tubes .

Scorchio

Oh, the 12 hours over 7 days doesn't include render time. Thats about 2-3 hours on 8 core Mac Pro.
