This time I am building more of a 'Sand Scorcher' version of a Sand Scorcher. Baja theme and details tbd. I wanted to start with a scale VW chassis so I decided to CNC one from aluminum with the help of a talented friend who has a bench top mill. I re-sized the layout from an actual VW chassis and re-proportioned it to fit the Scorcher shell. Here are photos of the actual parts followed by the 3D files and initial mock up. The body fits onto the lip that sticks outside the heater channels, the channels themselves serve to retain the body on the inside. Still need to do some media blasting and tweaking. Much more to come but here's the start-I thought I would share-

Too make it look real where is the rusty hole where the battery sits....? Superior work!!

Franklin

Kaish-I goofed-I should have made this out of steel and let it sit outside for a few months before building! Honestly, the right way to do this is to stamp it out of steel. I know how to get it done but it would cost way too much for the tooling. To you and everyone- Thanks for your great words!
