Sand Rover srb Again !!!
Hi all, not posted much in a while as iv'e been very busy with work and making a mess of my hand with a scalpel...LOL :(
This is what iv'e been up to for a long term project and managed to get it finished and photographed while there was a glimpse of the sun.
It's based on the original blue srb rover i did a while back with a few changes but always wanting to show off the srb's front suspension as you would see it on a true dune buggy.
There are no modifications to the shell as regard the mountings etc, the front plastic bodyclip mount has been changed in favour of a bent piece of aluminium that tucks under the front srb suspension tubes so in practice i could take this shell off and fit it to an original sand rover chassis.
The 2 cars that where a donor for what you see here where in a bit of a state so it doesn't bother me at all that iv'e chopped up two classics to build this. ;)
I'm not going into too much detail about how i did it or show too many pictures on how life started for this buggy as i will try my hardest to show the progress on another listing/ how to guide.
Anyway enough rambling , i hope you like what iv'e done with this one and onto my next project's.
As always comment's will be very appreciated cheers john... :)

Skottoman
This looks really great! If Tamiya would have released this as a kit, I would have purchased one. This is soooo much better than the re-re! Nice job, and lovely details! Especially love the matching tires and fronts in '315' form!

Thats well nice m8, did your new toy turn up yet?
Crash Cramer
John, that is great and the tires seem to work the best here on your buggy. It is cars like this that might change my mind on getting a Sand Rover, but then I would have to do a bunch of work to it to convert it into this type of beauty.

What can I say John, its a beaut... lovethe whole concept. Your roll cage is great and whoever painted that shirt needs a medal. The blue one was awesome, put them on the sand together and thats definately a video I'd buy .. ps. I've re-designed the 315's so you loose that inner wall lip when used with alloy covers..
j-man
many thanks Singleseven and Srb bloke,

John, This is one sweet rover. I love what you have done with it. And your VW engines are top of the heap! Awesome work my friend. I also love that roll cage. Love all your tube work!
Toykid
looks much better in the orange paint, but I like the old rear roll bars better. That said still the best as it was the original that got many of us started with this super cool conversion! Top work mate.

Once again thankyou to all who commented
@ Toykid, this rear cage is another variation on a theme, after much deliberation on weather i should put an alloy copy of the original on, i find they are not really scale in size, i also think they sit too high personally.
Thanks for the comments
