Merry Christmas to All - I spent last week away on holiday with the family. Having told everyone just to take a small bag of clothes, while I filled the boot of the car with a large tub with 3 models, tools, spares, charges, etc. I had to decide which cars to take, they had to be ones with good sealed gearboxes/drive-shafts, and with a body that protects the RC gear well. I decided on my yet-to-be-restored Wild One. I fitted some mud tires on the rear and a sport-tuned motor. We stayed in an absolute beachfront apartment, and spent an hour or 2 per day with my 7 year old son, driving our RC models around on the smooth firm flat sand. Many beach walkers got distracted by watching the models as they walked on by, only to get swapped by the odd wave while they weren't looking !!! It was great to slide it around on the sand. At one point, I did lose my hotted-up grass-hopper (9T Brushless + 60Amp Ezrun ESC) to a large wave, due to my 3 year old falling over in the shallow water. I took my eye off the car to help him, only for the car to get swapped by the same wave. I did pretty much water proof the car as much as possible, but the brushless speed controller gave up on it. Whenever running on sand, you want to ensure you have a powerful motor, as it makes beach running much more fun. Every morning, my 7 year old son & I took the models down to the beach for an hour or so of fun before breakfast. I reckon you could open up a business on the beach for people wanting to have a go with a RC car on the beach. We had such a blast each day, and these cars will stay in beach runner configuration. The Grass-hopper has a new ESC on it's way. If ever you go near a beach, always take some RC's models with you - They are great fun !!!

I know where you are coming from here, I did the same with my FAV beach runner this year. Bags of fun and the FAV/wild One's are great for this sort of thing. Make sure you clean it though, I left mine a little too long and the rear springs seized!! Lesson learnt!

The top picture reminds of the final scene in Terminator when Sarah Connor is warned that there's a storm coming ... excellent image!

Tires are 1.5', fitted to standard SRB 3-piece rims. You replace the WO plastic rear axle pin adapters with some lunchbox rear axle pin adapters. This then allows you to fit any SRB wheels you like. I've seen such 1.5' mud tires like mine on ebay. They work great on the sand ...

Actually, I used Grasshopper rear axle pin adapters on the WO. I think they are the same as the lunchbox - but can't be sure.
