This has really got my interest again
As some of you know i picked this optima mid turbo up in a junk shop a couple of weeks back and its really got my interest back into old RC cars..I raced competitively in the 80s, started with a hornet then a frog, then moved into 4wd with a hirobo zerda( great car wish i could find another one) then moved into chain driven optimas, then the belt conversion optimas. cars were getting quicker and quicker, and racing was expensive, tyres motors etc, just got mine competative and then the Mids arrived, lighter handled better.. i gave up racing then.. Now 25 years later.. i finally get the car i couldnt afford then.. Its coming together well.. just ordered a graphite chassis and option front susp support from fireboy 125..i had a set of Andys arms which will go on. New tyres and body/stickers from Mar*****w.. can of yellow paint. and a set of hotshot wheels and tyres from Stulec as i still had the tamiya/kyosho adapters from the 80s.. the hotshot wheels and tyres were a great improvement on the soft tyres we ran on the original optimas.. its only taken me 25 years to get it all together.. and ... i still wont be competative if i ever get to race this car..lol.. still keeps a 50yr old kid happy i suppose. will update once i have stripped the car added the new chassis parts and painted the shell..
