Christmas Donation Manta Ray
Here we go with my weekend project. As written in the trade section my wife brought home a card last week; we have a program in town that tries to organize christmas gifts for kids from less wealthy families. And one kid wrote down RC-modelling as his wish. So I bought an old Manta Ray on Ebay for 25 bucks, I still have an ESC and a radio in my boxes. The Mantay Ray arrived yesterday and was immediately totally disassembled. It is overall okay but has some minor issues: 1) right front knuckle having a hairline crack; 2) rear lower wishbones showing no fit for the screws anymore (screws are loose) 3) chassis having a broken hole at the front.
Huge thank to Darren( Dazza1) for helping me out with some spares. I hopr that the car finds the right kid and that he has fun with it and maybe can learn about mechanics. I will also add a RC Magazine so he can read a bit about. And of course I will be there if he has some problems.
Update 22-12-2011:
Mission completed. I did not have time to clean the body but the chassis is nice. I even improved the front steering (less play). Receiver is protected against water. I included 2 batteries and an old standard charger plus a new RC Car magazine. Was fun to complete the car and a nice feeling to put it with the card below the christmas tree. Merry christmas to all

That looks like a great project for a great cause. I wish I were closer as I bet I could spare a part or two for this and I have an empty kit box here that needs to find a home.
