Vintage Aerokits 34' Fireboat
I bought this as a bit of a wreck a couple of years ago and restored her a year or so ago. Powered by a water cooled Graupner speed 600 8.4v it has working navigation lights, searchlight and the davit is motorised.
Some of the fittings are original Keil Kraft but I had to make the davit from plasticard, the mast is soldered brass and wood, cleats are brass rod, beads and resin etc. Really enjoyed the scratch building.
She runs well for an old girl, they weren't the best designed hull and have a tendancy to dive if handled roughly but it will hold a good turn of speed and looks well on the water.

Paintwork and detail is very clean Roger Did you spray it?? I have been offered something similar but it looks like its been painted with a TAR BRUSH and thats putting me off

The white was all sprayed but the grey was part spray part brushed, not something I normally do because paint thinning causes slight differences in colour. Hull was all sprayed. It was much morecomplicated than I expected, masking up the various areas and took some time, I get a bit frustrated with painting at times, particularly as I have to use 'natures spray booth'

Yes natures spray booth causes promlems either damp and windy or nice sunny and dry but flies seem to think oh that looks a good place for a rest.

I said we'd see another boat very soon. Fantastic work again. Great paintwork, all your effort is worth it..

Nice restoration. I bought my Dad a RC fishing boat for his birthday. There is something about sailing a boat on a nice suuny day, peace and quiet! I am tempted to buy one, something different to the cars.
