This is a quick update to show where I'am up to with the Sea commander. After epoxy resin coating the interior, I have re-done the interior in a more period colour and re sprayed the superstructure. The deck has been stripped and re-done in satin yacht varnish. I have removed the hand rails and intend on fitting scale stantions where required. But the best bit is the Supermarine Taycol I 'am fitting. I have ditched the modern MFA torpedo and bought the Supermarine from Ebay. I have rebuilt it including skimming the comm plate and re-balancing the armature. It runs like a Singer sowing machine now. I have a fully restored M-series Futaba that with help from Keven64 (the radio vintage meister) have got together including a late 70's M-Series Electronic speed controller. Ditched is the new modern unit I originally bought. This ESC has built in RF chokes and suppression so it will sort out the white noise from the motor. I also have the wiring diagram to be able to reverse the motor with the ESC. Still to do is windows to fit, new stainless steel prop shaft, respray the hull & detailing to finish. I vowed to have this done for this summer......We will see....And if you ever wondered where all the vintage radio gear and Taycol motors have gone too from Ebay....Keven64 has bought them all !! ;)

Re done deck This modern esc has been ditched That swish Supermarine. A classic on its own Paint ripples a camera effect. Its like glass now Original late 70's M-Series Futaba. Beautiful ! The replacement new/old ESC (cheers Keven64) As it originally arrived

I remember this from a while ago Mark when we were trying to determine its origines. I think the modifications to the superstructure really suit it and with the work you've done this is looking great. I'm impressed with the dedication to old-school running gear as well, I have a few Taycols but not the 'big daddy' Supermarine; they are so beautifully engineered.
I think you're well on the way to some summer boating with this and look forward to seeing the pictures

Loving TC boat day... I think the builds come on great.. I have to admit my knowledge of what you've said in your description above is limited, to say the least. But you obviously know what you're doing. Keep the pace and we can see some video in the summer.

Nice Supermarine !

Hey - I only have a few Taycol motors...

I believe that your radio is EARLY seventies - only the old 19M ESC that I swapped is 'later'...

I think you'll find that there is more than me 'hoarding' certain 'vintage things'...

...and YOU don't do so bad yourself !

...the 'big daddy' Taycol is a 'Double Special'...

...a Supermarine with more power - due to larger field coils.

Just came across this... that thing is beautiful!

I've been trying to track down one of those old 19M ESCs... Keven64 or anyone else know where I might dig one up?
