Just picked this up this evening. I believe it's the original Wild Willy although I could be wrong. I also have WW2 and this one is completely different. It looks very very old. One tire (front left) has multiple cracks but still usable. Also a lot of slop in the front steering system (not sure if it's normal). I have always thought the WW uses the same tires as the Grasshopper (rear) but it turns out to be much bigger. Anyone know where I can get tires for the WW? Thanks for watching and feel free to comment.
Nice Local Find. Looks to be mostly original except the motor Gearbox spins smoothly and is working! minor scratch underneath Will replace manual speed controller with ESC Need front windshield and lights on roll cage

Nice find - Fresh tires are almost impossible to find and normally quite expensive. Wild willy and Blazing Blazer share the same tires.
Tamiya should be more than welcome to reissue these tires

What an oh-so-sweet find, Sang! Yeah, these share tires with the Blazing Blazer. Very hard to find and expensive, so don't go too rough over dirt with this babe. Still, this Wild Willy is such an addition to any collection.
BTW, I thought you'd like to know that this is the second version of the original Wild Willy. The trailing arms of the rear suspension are a bit longer than the first one.
Once again, congrats on finding such a CLASSIC!

Great find, bit of a strip down, clean, grease and re-build, then loads of fun. I'd love to have a WW resto someday. New tires will be expensive..

Thanks everyone for the comment. Keep them coming! I'm glad to find this one and planning on cleaning it up and perhaps run it gently in an open area. Thanks for the info Erich.

This is the original LWB version. There is a SWB version, which you can identify because is has a circle hole in the metal chassis plate you see next to the plug on the first photo. Nice find.

Nice find ,the steering slop is usual ,I modified a Willys Wheelers steering to be more direct , and actually work . I need to get myself a Wild Willy .

Good luck on original tires those who are selling them want the earth for them theres a guy on ebay selling a clean unit with crawler tires on it. Could be cheaper buying another car first
