Where do i start with this beauty... well last year i managed to purchase the re-re in manchester at a modelzone store for the excellent price of £65.00 (see showroom) and it was part built and with box... anyway that started me off wanting an original so i scored one off of fleece bay for around £45.00... yet another excellent buy as it had period receiver and servos installed all working and those all important drive shafts... (also in showroom) , ok fast forward to couple of months ago and i managed to buy an original shell for the original and there it sat un-trimmed and left in the wardrobe. Then a couple of weeks ago whilst looking late one night on the bay i put a bid in on a complete un-used original hotshot 1 chassis which i could not believe when i won it as my winning bid was around £13.00 plus around £6.00 shipping from canada!! it came with the 4 original screw bags too so was well chuffed.... thinking i would now need to source a brand new A and B roll cage sprue and lets be honest given how rare they are never expecting to find one then all of a sudden one came up on the bay and i purchased that on a best offer for £9.00 plus around £10.00 shipping (not much more than the re-re) and so the makings of a new build are here to see. Purchased the press parts bag (vintage) and an E-sprue also vintage (slightly different red to the re-re) and have put a new control arm on the MSC which works excellent. The iconic heat sinks are brand new originals which came from crash from the USA last year and so have finally got to fit on something and the drive shafts will soon be getting polished. The final gem is an original techni power motor which again is in superb condition (label worn that's all) and turns over great with a 15t fitted. Only re-re parts fitted are the bumper and that's it... everything else either brand new or cleaned up original items .So there you have my new hotshot guys, hope you like it and when i get them gold wheels fitted and a paint job and decal set i will update the pictures, thanks for looking and let me know what you think. Kind regards justin

body trimmed and fitted, now needs paint/decals lovely original shafts and bearings all around storage marks only on plastic otherwise perfect that all important technipower (aka supershot) need some clips for wires.. any ideas??? that sealed top chassis.. annoying but original three of the best (runner back left-re-re on right

didn't realise it was from a club member... in good nick it is mate and runs a treat!!! think it's a motor that sits well in this car, not too powerful but much quicker than the stock 540. Got the msc still too just incase i get a supershot project and will swap the motor over but until then stays in this. Thanks for the motor though buddy and it will be well looked after, regards justin

Glad its working fine as I could'nt test it due to the lack of resistors (silly me sold the Supershot with them still attached)! Bonus is.. its gone to a fellow Tamiyaclub member who really appreciates what its all about Looking forwards to the end result on this one!

Great story & lucky for some . You have a great collection of hotshot . Very nice touch with the technipower motor in the old girl . Yes them dog bones are getting harder & harder to find sadly . Won't be long & they will be one of the most $$$ part to find ?. May even cost up to or even more the $100 at some stage ?.
Another fantastic hot rod restore / build .

That is a nice one, clips for the wires. Some folks might go ahead and solder those wires directly to the resistors, just a thought, but otherwise, I haven't seen any of the special crimp ends by themselves before. I think Mr Lexan was selling those decals to refresh the worn ones on eBay, don't know???

Thanks for all the great comments guys and reckon if there is one car that desrves to be perfect for the shelf it's this one - unique in tamiya history, with the rear shock set-up only used on this car (could argue so does the super champ) and those dog bones it's one on its own. Thanks then to sony-sonic for that old technipower as it looks fab on this baby. Also mr cramer as you can see them heat sinks look super on the back - will try to find some clips failing that may solder or just secure with the heat shrink tubing? thanks jweston could not agree with you more it is simply that-- sweet. Finally matman i reckon them dogbones will go up in value and worth getting a wrecked shot purelly for them. Cheers guys

must mention all wishbones are the original ones and have small scratches but no cracks so decided to keep them on as it adds history to the car, plus the front ones are different from the re-re's as the bottom wishbones have the triangular brace near the upright same as the upper, re-re ones molded without so rare for that reason.

Yes on the front arms , they are the 1st addition hotshot arms . So keep them under lock & key . I have a set of them on a hotshot & crash cramer & me look into where they come from . But found out they are the 1st addition . So woohoo .

Cheers mad-bee for the comment, she aint looking bad is she - thing is it aint cost me a fortune either as most bits have been salvaged fromt the car i bought last year and cleaned up. The car i bought in turn has had re-re parts where needed and exchanged the super rare dogbones for the period long and short 'supershot 'shafts to be able to use as a runner. @matman i thought them arms rare, luckily this old lady won't be run so no chance of damage and the superficial scratches on the underside don't bother me as the car is only viewed from above or the sides - ps now fitted some gold wheels (came today wicked!!) must add though shhhh don't tell anyone they are the re-re ones lol but hey they cost £18.00 not £80.00 hmmm was a no brainer that one . Cheers guys

Yes the re re one are going cheap & will bling up any old hot through to super sabre .
I have 6 sets coming , $13.10 each set . Better than the two sets i have at $122. each . But they are still in packs & are vintage for the two cars that i have .
I think the hotshot looks great with the gold rims , maybe better than being on the super shot ?. Even that they still look great on the super shot .

yes kick myself now for not ordering a couple more sets at the time as they were cheap - think mine came from samurai japan ? think i spelled that right lol. Trouble is i'm running out of storage space now and will need to find some as i have a hotshot 2 coming with a broken chassis (ordered the chassis already and car aint here yet) and the chassis will be from the re-re but again as long as it looks right. Thanks for your comments matman and good talking buddy

Okay, need to help you out Justin. I HAVE THE PROPER HSII chassis if you want to get that OCD about it. I believe it will pass your scrutiny as it should just have storage scratches. As I have learned, I don't tend to charge enough on parts when I sell them to other TC members. I guess I am tooooo nice, yes that is it, I am a nice guy and we all know nice guys finish last. Anyway, I don't plan on selling my HS axles anytime soon, but when I do, I won't be asking $100 for them, so there is hope. I agree fully, Gold wheels are great on these and I am grateful to Tamiya for making a re re SShot as I want to get my hands on a body and wing to add to some truly vintage decals and complete my SShot. I had forgotten you could simply shrink tube the resistors on.
