Is this Tamiya's finest hour in their illustrious history of making radio controlled models? It would be a brave person who argues otherwise.
To not only re-release a kit that was previously thought to be undoable by most people, but then improve it whilst maintaining the spirit and look of the 1985 original, and at the same time making it different enough to clearly differentiate between this & said original....well, that takes a special company to do such a thing and that is what Tamiya Plastic Model Company is.
We are lucky to be enthusiasts in this era. I guess we are now entering the plateau phase of the re-releases with no doubt a good few more of the 'superstar' golden oldies on the way. No doubt that this is cheesing off a small section of the community but I have to say I'm not one of them. The re-releases have invigorated the hobby IMO and long may it continue. :)
As usual a big thumbs up to Stellamodels who outdid even themselves with their packaging standards with this one. Massive amounts of additional polystyrene & bubblewrap was added to make the kit bulletproof during transit.
Glorious 1985 artwork comes back to life in 2012!
Huge box adds to the sense of occasion.
No blisters this time but still beautifully packed
$$ previously spent on these now buys a whole kit.
Goodie box contents, with very mildly tinted glass
More great presentation.
The only plastic chassis parts in the kit!
The all important bonus part :)
Like a VW ad once said....'The original, updated.'
Decals, paperwork & a manual that is like a book!
