The commemorative kit of my 1st ever Tamiya! Yeah Baby!
Ladies & gentlemen! The commemorative kit 58045 has joined the collection! This is my 1st ever kit that started the Tamiya R/C hobby saga back in 1984 at the tender age of 7. When I opened it, it reeked nostalgia from that day when my late father brought it back home for getting good results in my 1st grade finals. Now 2012, this was an auction win and at a dirt cheap price and i'm totally jumping high on the moon! To me the most prized of my collection, love ya Hornet! 'Aah da simple things in life...'

lovely purchase and if you got it at a good price all the better. Have the re-re but as of yet not been further than the carpet lol. Nice one
sunnyjai
hot rod - thanks buddy, yeah I shed a tear as this kit reminds me of the good old days when life was fun and simpler and my old man - God Bless you dad where ever you are!
matman
Very nice kit & a lucky man to find one .
I had a hornet for my 1st car for a week , then changed my mind & gave it back to a mate i got it off & got the boomerang instead . You just can't beat the NIB to bring back memories of fantastic times .
This is why i like to keep my NIB kits NIB &
don't build them . SO keep it NIB & when you need to just open it & close your eyes
& remember good times. Now on another note are you going to get the pink / purple one . LOL .
R/CVET
Having a similar Hornet story and recently scored the same (after a tragic loss of my original back in the '80's), I can definitely relate to your enthusiasm. What an unbelievable original model to get our hands on, uh? It's amazing that a simple, entry-level classic like this can spark up this kind of nostalgia...enjoy!!

matman & R/CVET: you've taken the words right out of my mouth! Cheers to re-living memories - all hail the Hornet, God save the Hornet!
Wyoming
wow great kit and story, I really wanted this as a kid but ended up with the Grasshopper
sunnyjai
Wyoming: Grasshopper is just as good buddy! No matter how cheap or expensive a kit is, it's nothing in our hearts & minds if it hasn't evoked that nostalgic feeling. That's the one driving force that makes us sell our kidneys, mortgage our homes, sell our pets n stuff that satisfies our craving for that 'feeling'!
MAD-BEE
A all time classic!!
My original Hornet is back to full time action again now and thats how it should be!! The Hornet is too much fun to drive to be stuck on a shelf and its a real buzz to drive this Legend every time!!
Enjoy my friend!!

MAD-BEE: Couldn't agree with you more! I'm in the process of starting my runner G'Hopper re-re so will you folks updated! Yes me and the brother in-laws are planning a G'Hopper 380 vs the Juggernaut II drag race!

forgot to mention do have a runner grasshopper just returned to runner status having been locked in a cupboard for nearly two years!!! was a re-re shelfer but had some slight scars after overturning it on tarmac so left it. Since gathered some old worn parts so donated most of them to that car and all the best bits will be added to with new parts (new shell/chassis) and i will create another shelfer. Thinking i might take this runner to the beach later this year buddy so keep an eye out for that one.
sunnyjai
hot rod: Nice! Would have been if we all could have a friendly beach side race with our buggies, would have been cool!
moffman
im looking for one at the mo!, re-re or original for the same reason it was my first one i built and raced myself and my cousin had the grasshopper every friday night racing at my local club!. ahh memories!!!!
MAD-BEE
I put my money on the Hopper!!
sunnyjai
moffman: Memories yeah baby!
MAD-BEE: Lols!
moffman
actually mad-bee ya right in saying money on the hopper because he was more fearless than me because the body on the hopper was vurtually indistructable (hard plastic body) my wing kept on ripping off so after the 3rd body i was a little more careful!!
sunnyjai
moffman: Hahaha lols! You're kinda right too as my cousin's G'Hopper still surviving in my hands over my Hornet is a testament to that!
Faisal
