This is a Hooben 1/16 Elefant Tank I've been working on for several months. What a beast! Started with a Hooben kit. Added; Original 1/16 Imai metal tracks, Full Zimmerit, All Tamiya Full Option Electronics, ect, ect. Initial paint is for an Italian unit and I'm deciding on how far to go with weathering and more added detail. Tank weighs a ton. Very impressive, especially when parked next to my Sherman. This beast took many hours to adapt Tamiya's recoil and flash system. Also spent about two weeks working on the metal sprockets and tracks to get the proper look and function. Look for updates as this one gets finished.....

Yeah, they don't get any bigger in 1/16th scale.....

Huge beast! Really well executed! Sounds like a big project... not sure I am ready for a Hooben. I say go with some weathering, just don't go overboard.

njmlondon, The Hooben kit is only a starting point. Plastic tracks are not quite 'right', 88mm gun is too short, armor plate weld lines look like the grand canyon (most of mine covered by Zimmerit). Overall, Hooben got the basic dimensions correct. Not even close to Tamiya for quality or detail, but if you want an Elefant you start with one of these, or empty out your life savings for an original Imai kit.
