Well after 26 years I finally got a Box art Bruiser in my collection. As the story goes back in 1986 I had all the money saved to buy a Bruiser, but my girlfriend at the time wanted a necklace, so I bought her the necklace for her B day and 3 months later she left me for my best friend....Ahh it happens, and I never got my Bruiser, until now, got this one and finally restored it.....It is all original except for the decals from JR RC, I have a new original decal sheet but couldnt bring myself to cut it up. Thanks for looking :)

The story is really touching, Dan. I really don't know how could you go ahead after going through such thing. I wonder what ever happened with the relationship between your girlfriend and your mate, how it all ended. Just to see if the stories about ''karma'' are true or not. Oh, by the way, the Bruiser looks great. May I ask you about the wipers, or is it a newer body? I feel happy for you to finally have the truck, one of the greatest Tamiya rc models ever.

Well the good news is she went on and dumped my friend and moved on....The wipers were on the truck when I bought it, so I just removed them and put them back on...The body is an all original Bruiser vintage body

Hi Dan

Congrats on this one; very nice indeed!
I think restoring a vintage one is many times better than buying a re-release.
Enjoy it!!

Not a true mate, not a true girlfriend... Cant say the same about your lovely Bruiser though, faithfully waiting for your companionship since '85

Nice buy my friend and I can understand and can relate to what happened to you. My motto I picked up years ago was if she ain't your missus don't spoil them too much! Glad and congratulate on a nice acquistion!

That is stunning, should get to work on mine. I really one day hope to find a Mountaineer that won't cost me an arm, leg and forehead. That is something of my all time favorite looking vehicle from Tamiya, but the Hilux Highlift isn't too far from it, however, it isn't the same.
