Here's my modified Hornet after a fair bit of work. I have been reliving my youth and couldn't resist getting a rerelease of the kit. To be fair I'd forgotten quite how bad the car handled and the gearbox slap while it bounces along.

I actually found this website when looking for a way to try and address the handling issues. I was very impressed with the work members had done and was inspired to have a go myself.

I converted the front and rear suspension and fitted modern dampers. I also fitted a third rear shock to try and fix the gearbox slap. I received very helpful advice from another member Toykid and shamelessly copied his front bumper mod.

I also went for a bit of a shiny paint job, which I appreciate may not be to everyone's taste, but I like it and think the car has turned out well.

I have posted a picture of the car as I built it stock and pictures of the mods.

Cheers, the metallic blue I used for the shell came out really well.

The paint looks excellent. The shock system is a plus and sets the car off nicely. Good to see creative ventures.

Looks great!! How does it handle now?

It does handle much better now, especially the front end. The rear is still quite bouncy, but gearbox slap is sorted. I guess it's never going to handle as well as a modern buggy, but it was fun trying to improve the car.
