I always wanted to do an old school A/FX or altered wheelbase drag car. These were really the first 'funny cars', given their name because of their altered wheelbases, fiberglass bodies and garage-improvised design. There was no 'CAD' back then! I started with an HPI 66 Mustang body and went to build a period correct frame. The axles are from the 1/14 semi except the front axle has been modified to look like a drop axle. I made my own shocks as there were not too many options out there with the right function and scale appearance. Coil-overs in the back, leaves and dampers up front. I am using a 1/16 Traxxas Revo/Fiesta motor and drive line. The motor is buried in a scale Ford 427. Here is where I am to date-mind you-this is still a mock up-there are lots of little magnets holding everything together. The outer plastic film is still on the body. Eventually, once everything is fitted, all metal bits will be sand blasted and cleaned up. Thanks for looking!

I had to do a double take with this car. That first pic looks like a real car with the yard in the background. What an amazing custom machine you have made. Congratulations
