70's Baja Racer Project - chassis work
Today I took my time for some work on the chassis. From the beginning, the body shell did not sit right on the chassis. The rear end was sitting so high that there was a big gap between the chassis and the body. Also the chassis was wider then the body. I cut and filed the chassis to fit the shape of the body. Also lowered the rear end with the gear and shock tower to direct fit to the chassis. In addition to that I bend the side walls of the chassis towards the body. Now it is a perfect fit. Next I will have to make a firewal between engine compartment and driver.

Man that is awesome. It is quite nice looking from the sides, but for some reason, the rear tires look a bit too skinny. Could be just me.
TamTom
They are looking skinny, but this is on purpose. Most 70's Baja Buggies had skinny tires on the rear. Like this original Funco Buggy: [Click here]

And he counters with an almost as awesome photo reference. Thanks and I think you are truly onto scale authenticity there.

Nice body mods. What brand are the front wheels you're using on this buggy?
TamTom
Tanks for your nice comment
@mongoose1983, the front wheels are aluminum wheels (just the outer parts) which where sold on eBay once. I painted them white.

Awesome! Question: is the side panels on the body modified or is this a body bought with this shape? I ordered a buggy champ today and will like to do the bodywork as close to the original Bullet as possible. Anyway...this is a beaty!
TamTom
@Gosan, this is a modified RR Body. The side Panels as well as the nose and the Hood are modified to match the shape of the Funco Bullet. Cheers
