I got the Hilux bug after Tamiya re-re the Bruiser. Can't affort one at the moment so decided to Build a roller with new Hilux body. Got the RC4WD chassis and Tamiya Highlift axles on sale cheap. The rest of the went to the body end up spending way too much. I want to build something resembles the original Tamiya Hilux 4x4. After a month build here's the result. In future I will swap out the chassis for Bruiser chassis with RC Channel axles.

Cowboy loves this truck lights Trying the body on my og Bruiser/Mounty On Bruiser chassis it looks really mean. Tamiya Toyota family group shot

That first chassis looks great (maybe some wheelarch flares??) and I love the colour scheme - looks really sharp.

This is probably blasphemy, but I like the look or your 'lux better than the original! Wheels and mounty decals look typical early 80's era plus I dont recall seeing stepsides over here, so I'm in love!

Awesome, yours look more retro than the Mountaineer. I really loved the fog lights and the brush guard. It reminds me of the Yota from Back to the Future.

Thanks for the comments guys, Oldie, yes I thought about wheel arch flares but just don't look right with that tire. Scalextreme yeah it does remind me of Marty's black truck. Johnny4cross, chassis is a bare one no tranny you can see it at scalerc4x4 forums under 1.9 section for complete build.

I like
The red color with the orange and yellow stripes. Wheels looks spot on too. This is how Tamiya should have built their re-re hilux. Not the rediculous high hi-lift with small wheels and funny looking high body. Nice pics too!

Thanks guys. Carrera, well if I get the Bruiser chassis it will be lowered so it will look the same except it will be 3 spd
Mor10retro, agree perhaps they make this as the rere Hilux.

That looks fantastic. Tamiya should definitely take a page from your book and issue their next Yota in this guise. Stunning work.

Okay, more details where did the side rocker bars come from and that front grill, wow, that is nice, will it fit my original 58028 Hilux chassis???

JYCM3

Crash Cramer, rocker bar from Bruiser and the front bush guard is from original 58028.

Thanks for the link, but DANG IT, an original brush guard, I don't have one of those. I will have to figure something out someday when I begin to build mine.
