I've been very lazy over the last few months and haven't posted up anything, so thought I might post a couple of photos of my restored Monster Racer on the track at St Ives.

I visted the track with TC Members Jak Rizzo and Jesse James a few months back with the intention of getting the truck dirty for the first time since I restored it by doing a few laps at full pace. Sadly, it seems I am useless and failed to build my gearbox correctly and the diff was slipping so badly, I never got a lap out of it. :-(

So here we go.....the only 2 photos Jak could recover from the session. He tells me the rest were all rubbish, I have to assume it's due to the fact that he would have been expecting to capture a much faster moving object on film ;-)

The good news is, since these photos were taken the diff has been rebuilt and the truck has completed a race day at Castle Hill. It's no longer quite as pretty, but with its Hi Caps and Technipower motor, it's a ton of fun to drive. ;-) oh yeah, the travel issues in the shocks as seen in the second photo have also been fixed.....now more in the rear and less in the front. :-)

About to lose its title as a shelf queen... tiny little bit of air time....

If you liked those pictures, you should see these...

Fantastic looking example. I have a Kingcab. I want this version more though. Are those Hi Cap dampers also used on the Astute?

Even if it is the two photos, still very nice looking and you have the guts to drive it!!! You can always get us more action shots now, we won't mind.

@bigjag. The hicaps on this are options for the rear of the astute.

@mtbkym01. Keen eyes Kym. They are a set of HPI rims. I reckon they look awesome on this truck for running.

Agreed, they look great, have you done some kind of hex mod for the fronts? I reckon these would also look great on the Blitzer vehicles.

@mtbkym01 No hex mod required mate, they come with various sized inserts to allow ball bearings so they are suitable for standard front axles.

Hi
How did you get the front hpi rims to fit?

AJFord

@ampex456
The wheels came with wheel insert adaptors which allow you to use standard sized Tamiya wheel bearings.
