Today is my Birthday so I was finally allowed the Wraith. Unwrapped it checked it over and made sure it was ready to go then plugged in the battery for a 5 minute dash across the lawns and then some rock crawling through the rockery. It was outstanding and it went places even the Crawler King couldn't climb.

Checked nothing was loose then took it for a run round Earlswood Lakes and then into Clowes Woods. Nice and quick on the gravel/mud paths and crawled over the tree roots with ease. And then....... as I did a slow traverse of a ditch I noticed the odd wheel angle coming out of the ditch. One of the king pins has come out. There are plenty of spare plastic bits but no spare screws so the Wraith is now out of action until I either go to Wheelspin Models where I bought it from or Mail order a screw set at my expense. So 25 minutes and approx a mile of running and it broke, not good really especially when the official video shows a wraith being pounded across a rocky area at speed.

I have subjected my CC01 pajero and my Crawler King to far worse conditions and they have never let me down. So I don't think I will be bothering with that Axial SCX10 I wanted anymore.

UPDATED 20:12 17th May 2013. Have ordered some HPI screws that are identical as no UK stock of the correct Axial 435 screws. Fitted a countersunk Kyosho screw for now and bought a bottle of Devcon Blue threadlock. Took it for a run and all seems ok.

Ready for the off Pause for a battery change and off again Not as muddy as he should have been Hmm, should it be bent like that? Spare king pin needed!

All ways disappointing when something like that happens especially when it shouldn't. I'v been reading a fair bit on these as I am considering a couple for the family but they seem to need a fair bit of upgrading incertain areas to get better reliability. Steering drive shafts suspention links and the list gos on. Guess it depends on how hard you are on them! Nice rig buy the way, passenger looks famila!

Up to the point it broke I thought it was the best Crawler/racer I had run for a long time. I cannot find any stock of the AXA453 screws in the UK so I guess that tells a story. I have the U/J shafts to fit but will be upgrading the Knuckle arm and C housing as well. For most use I think the plastic links are adequate but I will report back again on this. The drive train seems to be strong although I have heard about issue with the pins coming out of the WB8's

Interesting tip, apparently the HPI-94354 M3x10 button head screws are the same so have ordered those.
