Avante Black Special
Ok, I’m not (was not :) ) one for posting N!B’s, simply because I buy kits to build and enjoy. However, I have been pretty busy at work and as my reward, I’ve been accruing kits at a faster rate than I sometimes can get an opportunity to even looking inside their boxes.
The first of my acquisitions is my Avante. In all honesty, altho' I was remotely aware of these space car buggies, they didn’t at all appeal to me. In fact, at one time, it would never even have crossed my mind that I would own one of these cars. They looked too futuristic and kinda toy like. But then I hooked up with a little RC Car Club fondly referred to as TC, and all that changed. There seemed to be an Avante Cult following, and from them I saw and learned that these kits were quite technical in their design, had a number of innovative features (of yesteryear of course) and was also loaded with alloy and carbon fibre. And time had moved on to make the design more acceptable and appealing - to me anyway. I delved into it a bit more and was astounded at their prices! No way - I would never buy one of those things!
ha ha!
The re-release had me see-sawing, and so did all the new posts on TC, and I still could not convince myself to commit. However, as the heat of the new re-release began to simmer, Big T announced a new Avante Black Special as a limited edition and they were being snapped up left right and centre. Damn, I could hold myself back no longer! After much ado, I picked up this Japanese version from Stellamodels and 'am glad I did. It’s all bubble wrapped and still unopened, and for all I know, there could even be a boogyman inside. :) For now it’s going to stay that way as I’ve noticed prices sky rocketing – and oh, and I don’t have the time ;) ..and woteva!
So, there we have it! ..I’ve posted a N!B and your comments, as always, are welcome and appreciated.
PS:- Noth!ng - ever - stays the same.
Now!
Think about that.
..later. ;)

You have done well young padawan, welcome to the dark side of the FORCE! I dunno what the rest of the Avante BS Club talk about but I love to chat about the fine ladies, modding real cars to da maxx and the hard spirits *hick* if you know what I mean A sure future classic, even Tamiya has kept a sizable stock for their keeps (and this is not rumour). Are you gonna build her?
RACECRAFTERS
Thank you mtbkym01, Tamiya Era and Sunshine. @ Sunshine - no doubt I will feel right at home with you crowd, but it's the softer beverages for me. If I'm not tempted to get a 2011 as a runner it might get built. 'Still undecided as already have heaps on the go.
ModifiedMan
I absolutely love the look of these and hope to have one myself one day.
Great buy and congrats!!!
Wandy
An excellent acquisition mate...welcome to the owners club. I have only recently finished building mine. A couple of tips when building it....take care when opening parts bags as there are loads of tiny parts that could easily be lots, and take your time when applying the main silver side decals as they are a pain to get right without trapping air bubbles into them!
RACECRAFTERS
Cheers ModifiedMan & Wandy! @ ModifiedMan - even with all my resilience I eventually got mine, I hope you do to. @ Wandy - thank you for those tips mate, I will keep them in mind should I decide to build it. I do feel that there is something a bit 'special' about this kit.
Type49rs
Great to see that you bought one of these Mal. I was tempted but was holding out for a re-re Egress. Now rip into that beautiful Stella packaging and build this baby
SteveAdair
Like you, I was necer one for shelf queens or NIB but now that the time I have available for my favourite hobby has steadily reduced over the past 2 years I find myself collecting NIBs and I have turned a couple of runners in to shefl queens. This is a stunning box and model, thanks for sharing.
RACECRAFTERS
Thank you Type49rs/John & SteveAdair for your kind comments. @ Type49rs - After checking out your original and then Sayroll's re-re, I was sold! @ Steve - NIB still suck for me as I'd rather be working on or driving them instead. I guess, for us practical enthusiasts, it's our way of saving for another day?!
SteveAdair
Yes indeed, I am telling myself the same thing, that I am saving them fo when I have time to build. Great minds LOL
MAD-BEE
