Long Long overdue entry into F1 rc
To think I was going to pick another offroader as my next build, (there is nothing wrong with offroaders, all my rc's before I got this were offroad besides a M03 lol) but deep down I knew I had to give F1 a go. The kit is a birthday pressie from Mrs Berman and the kitset was bought from none other than mine and your favourite Club sponsor, the legendary Stella Models. This venture was unfamiliar territory for me, but exciting all the same. I have thoroughly enjoyed the build, taking my time and relishing in it. Everything went smooth apart from the painting. I used liquid mask and had a nightmare cutting and painting this. Its too cold for the mask to go off properly and hairdryers and warming paint cans etc werent helping. Also Tamiya state in the instructions to paint the wing plates (which are polycarbonate) fluro red on the outside and black on the inside, this is a no no, as it makes the fluro red appear a brownish red. I should have backed it with white first and then black. I ended up making some more wing plates out of styrene and buying some fluro red in TS aswell. Bit of bugger but even with the horrid cut lines, yuck mask and wing plate saga, the more I pedal this thing the more I love watching it go up and down my street. This is an absolute blast to drive. I have plans to get some (much more realistic) rubber tyres but no immediate plans to hop it up or race it competitively (just found out the council has made our local onroad track into a pay and display car park!). I am sure the Mrs doesn't want to hear this but I honestly wouldnt mind building another one (or two)! ;)

Don't you just love Councils. It's a shame you had some little troubles building this one but it certainly looks the part now! I have a well used F103 and I love to drive it. Have fun with this one buddy .
Percymon
Looks great Neil. And so different to the rest of you cars, always good to have some variety
Goldnest
Looking absolutely fab! Can't beat number one, can you?
berman
Yeah Max, when I went up there it was the middle of the day, and no cars were parked there lol. Thanks mate, its all part and parcel. Yeah awesome, actually an f103 sounds like a likely sibling! Cheers Dave, yeah its a little left of centre for me, lol next I want a tank
berman
Haha thank you Goldnest! Yeah bit of a Senna fan you could say, but I am impartial to any mid 80s to mid 90s f1, those were asthetically my favourite years
Powerbruiser
First picture is awesome! Great looking car.

pastimesteve
Beautiful! Fantastic work! I agree with you, the mid 80s to early 90s were some of my favorite F1s, although not quite up there with the 1970 (that year only) cars and the 60s era.
berman
Thanks geminijets! It looks amazing whilst driving too Cheers SB Aust, might be one appearing in your showroom too soon perhaps? Thank you pastimesteve! Oh yeah absolutely some gorgeous 60s era cars! I think I am just attached to the 80s-90s as thats what I grew up watching. Thank you everyone for your fantastic comments
RACECRAFTERS
Lovely work on that MP4 Neil! You'd defo get a nod from Ayrton were he still with us, so you certainly get one from me. Regard paint color sequence:- red, white, bright silver, then black. White doesn't have enough opacity to prevent other colors from showing thru'. Hope tip helps. Good work Mate!
berman
Cheers Mal. Not sure what Tamiya were thinking with the black backing. The fluro red was quite translucent hence why the black made it brownish. Anyway fixed now Cheers for your help!
TIMECMDR
