Well, sometimes fortuna is on my side. I recently won an auction with a 'Hot Shot' not a Hotshot in the description and was limited to german buyers only. And as I am from Austria, I could not place a bid. So I contacted the seller and I got an exclusive right to bid. I think it was my luck that the auction was not international sale but limited to germany only and the seller did not know that he was selling a Mk1 Hotshot rather a normal one. Now as it arrived this morning I could not believe in what fantastic condition the Hotshot is!! Underside is scratch free. Tyres are close to unused. Everything on this car is correct Mk1 and nothing is broken.
You may know I got another Mk1 recently in very nice condition and I thought - wow that is a great example (which it still is for sure) but this one is over the top. Only an new built and nib can be in better condition. So I will be very busy the next couple of weeks as I have to rebuild two Mk1 Hotshots :-D

Hope you enjoy the pictures.

no support Mk1 front bumper shiny and no scratches correct knuckles scratch free rear bottom!! the two Mk1 side by side a few Hothsots

I enjoyed the photos, great catch, you said it to me before, keep the net in the water and you just might get lucky. I can't find my manual right now, but I wanted to give you a small amount of ribbing for the number on your cars. I like that you have both a #3 and a #7, that is cool, it is a shame about the decals that will be almost ruined pulling them off the bumper, but it must be done.
Now, onto how lucky you are with this find. Looks like the resistors are just right and in good shape, then there is the rear gearbox with little scratches which is amazing since there is no triangle metal guard to keep the screw from being plastic welded in place due to chassis dragging. I also dig the fact your front axles have only the single ring engraved in them, another true Mk1 trait. Great stuff. What radio gear came inside it?

Correct! I forgot about the single ring on the front axles. Both my Mk1 have only one ring. This one does not have resistors but, I have a NIB Mk1 msc here which will be put into when I rebuild it. Also I have a NIB body set waiting to be build. So I can restore this one to almost mint condition. As I said, the owner must have built and just made a test run prior to putting it away. There is no radio gear installed. The other Mk1 has an acoms AP-227 Mk III radio gear installed.

Great catch, I would keep it as it is. Genuine Mk1 without any tampering. Cheers

Sure I will not tamper the model. Just take it apart, clean and rebuild it. The body I have is also an original vintage HS body so, it still is original with a new built old stock body shell.

I knew what a hotshot is but not sure what is special about the MK1? Can someone please educate me?

I just sold my 2 hotshots few months ago, which look pretty much similar to this one, and even had technie gold motors

The Mk1 Hotshot is the very early version of the vintage original Hotshot. The Mk1 differs from the most common Hotshot in several points. Described here: [Click here]

Most significant difference is the front bumper showing 3 holes and is made of softer plastic. Other difference are knuckles, front axles, front gearbox, rear lower wishbones, front lower wishbones and msc resistors. So Hoshot is not equal Hotshot and, again this Mk1 is a very special Hotshot as it was not long on the market.

Thanks and thanks a lot, Tom.

Now I believe one of mine is the MK1 and it's too late I 'inherited' them from my older fellow neighbor with pretty soft-prices I will be pretty careful from now on and don't let the wife 'influences' my remaining collection

hdbui69, chances are you sold it to a TC member as they would really know what to go after for a Mk1 HotShot, I bet it is on here somewhere. It isn't the end of the world since TamTom here has started a collection of just Mk1 HotShots, he is bound to get them all someday.

All cabinets full of Mk1 HotShots must be looking ace
