Finished the Subaru re-re. Long project. Came out very nice. I'm sure those who built this to detail know what a pain in the butt this is (but enjoyable anyway). Everything is masked or separated out via color…very time consuming. I used aluminum air-duct tape for the tight chrome details..that stuff works great once you learn how it goes down. I went semi-box art and got a little creative with decals and stuff. I mixed the gold and silver decor not because I meant to do so, I actually screwed up the gold insignia and decided what the heck and used the silver…actually looks pretty good with this scheme… I painted the driver who looks like Ron Burgundy Anchorman. I gave him nice chops and a discerning 70s/80s gaze. He's a man who knows what he wants…and by god he's gonna get it in his Brat. I added suspension to front, aluminum battery holders, and a brushless Reedy 3300 out of an associated truggy. perfect for this model..it's pretty quick though I haven't done much but test it. Hope you enjoy the pics…sort of glad to have this done and out of the way…it's spring time!

that looks really good, plus lots of ideas for when I restore my Brat , I especially like the alloy rims.

I have always liked your work Tyboart and you've done great on this one. The amount of effort these take is the very reason my Brat still sits unpainted. Nice work mate!

Thanks Racecrafters! I know…on this it seemed like one thing led to another…felt like I was going backwards at times..ha! Really just enjoyed it though…fun stuff.

Awesome Brat Ty. It is such a shame Tamiya never sold the nudge bar and roll bar in a chrome version. I dig the mixture and although I didn't 'paint' mine, I know the pain that detailing this body is. [Click here]

Ty, top work buddy . You have done a great job on this Brat, all that time and effort has really paid off . Really like the front suspension mod, and the decals work just fine! The question is, are you going to run this beautiful car?!?! . Cheers buddy. Paul

Hi Crash!…Thanks!….I thought about that as well..a nice chrome roll bar…that would look nice. Thanks for sharing your Mudblaster!…THey are hard to detail but again, these have many ways they can be decorated which makes them interesting to do. I mean, probably the biggest reason I bought it was not so much for running as a chance to work up the body. Glad it's finished though!

Sturge, Thanks!….You know, I have a separate set of tires with the plastic white rims and the kit comes with a spare poly-carb body so I imagine I'll run the chassis a bit with those on there instead of with the detailed stuff..nice to have options because I really do want to get it out for a spin.

Very nice on 3 counts, looks beautiful and better than box-art, the colour is kind of old-school, like the Brat itself. Secondly the electric set up sounds awesome and I guess you'd better be careful running such a stunning Brat. Thirdly I love the custom bits, especially the front suspension, looks very impressive, I wonder is this kit freely available or is it your own? Top work and one refreshing Brat!

Hi Dirt-540. Thank you for checking it out! As far as the suspension goes..I added the reinforced steering via Associated rods and the shocks I got from RC4WD (www.rc4wd.com) The towers I found off of ebay but you probably can find various options. I probably will run the chassis with the stock rims and a spare set of tires I have along with the poly-carb body the kit provides. Feel free to and anything you may need to know about it!…

Tyboart, thanks for the info, I will keep my eyes peeled for that very item. It looks the best option so far for converting the front end of a Brat/Frog. Almost forgot too, the foil is brilliant, never seen it myself but the result looks authentic. This is going straight into my faves.
